Posted on 10/25/2022
An incredible rarity from China’s Republic era is among the hundreds of coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) being offered in an upcoming sale. Online bidding is underway for Chaponnière & Firmenich Auction 16, and is set to end on November 13, 2022.
A stunning China Year 8 (1919) $10 graded NGC MS 63 (lot 131) is the leading NGC-certified highlight in the sale. This project was short-lived, with only a small amount of gold $10 and $20 pieces being struck before vanishing into obscurity. Only 54 examples are listed in the NGC Census, with a mere five examples graded higher than this one. It has a starting price of 50,000 CHF (about $50,000).
