NGC-certified Russian Coin Leads World Rarities in Two SINCONA Auctions

Posted on 10/10/2022

NGC-graded coins from around the world are being offered in Auctions 78 and 80 in October 2022.

A rare gold coin showing the last czar of Russia is among the rarities from around the world certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) that are being offered this month. Bidding is already underway for SINCONA Auctions 78 and 80,  being held October 24-27, 2022.

The 1908 Russia 25 Roubles from the Moreira Collection graded NGC MS 60 (Auction 78, lot 582) is from a mintage of only 175 that were struck in celebration of the 40th birthday of Emperor Nicholas II. The first 150 coins were made from a gold nugget, weighing almost 5 kilograms, and in 1910, another 25 coins were minted. The coins were not intended for circulation but were kept by the czar’s family and the families of the nobles who received these coins as a sign of prestige. This coin has a starting price of CHF 150,000 (about $150,000).
