More Than 2,500 PMG and NGC-Certified Items in Trigometric Auction

Many banknotes and coins from Malaysia and elsewhere in Asia are available in the July 2022 auction.

More than 2,100 banknotes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) and more than 400 coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) are featured in an upcoming Trigometric sale. Online bidding is already underway for all four sessions of the July 2022 auction, which takes place July 9-10 and July 16-17, 2022.

The auction’s top lot is a two-piece set of Malaysia notes: a 2017 600 Ringgit Commemorative and an ND (2019) 50 Ringgit, each graded PMG 67 Superb Gem Uncirculated EPQ (Session 4, lot 4126). The commemorative is the largest-size banknote in the world, measuring 370 x 220 mm (14.57 x 8.66 inches), and both notes in this set have matching serial numbers of 0000555. This lot has an estimate of RM100,000 to RM130,000 (about $23,000 to $30,000).

Other PMG-certified highlights in the auction include:

  • a Malaysia, Bank Negara ND (1967-72) 5 Ringgit, Color Trial Specimen graded PMG 62 Uncirculated (Session 1, lot 1762), with an estimate of RM40,000 to RM50,000 (about $9,000 to $11,000)
  • a Malaysia, Bank Negara ND (1967-72) 100 Ringgit Specimen graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated (Session 1, lot 1766), with an estimate of RM34,000 to RM38,000 (about $8,000 to $9,000)
  • a Malaysia, Bank Negara 2007 50 Ringgit Commemorative Replacement/Star graded PMG 70★ Gem Uncirculated EPQ (Session 2, lot 2703), with an estimate of RM10,000 to RM12,000 (about $2,000 to $3,000)
  • a China 2000 100 Yuan Commemorative Uncut Pair graded PMG 65 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (Session 2, lot 2246), with an estimate of RM8,000 to RM10,000 (about $2,000)
  • a Malaysia, Bank Negara ND (1967-72) 1,000 Ringgit graded PMG 40 Extremely Fine (Session 3, lot 3044), with an estimate of RM85,000 to RM100,000 (about $19,000 to $23,000)
  • a Malaysia, Bank Negara ND (1976-81) 1,000 Ringgit graded PMG 45 Choice Extremely Fine EPQ (Session 3, 3141), with an estimate of RM50,000 to RM60,000 (about $11,000 to $14,000)
  • a Straits Settlements / British Administration 1898-1911 10 Dollars graded PMG 20 Very Fine (Session 4, lot 4312), with an estimate of RM82,000 to RM92,000 (about $19,000 to $21,000)
  • a three-piece set including a 60 Ringgit, 60 Ringgit Uncut Sheet of 3 and 600 Ringgit graded PMG 66 Gem Uncirculated EPQ to PMG 67 Superb Gem Uncirculated EPQ (Session 4, lot 4125), with an estimate of RM60,000 to RM80,000 (about $14,000 to $18,000)

Session 1 of the sale features the NGC-certified coins, including a Hong Kong 1866 Silver Dollar graded NGC MS 61 (lot 1151), with an estimate of RM35,000 to RM50,000 (about $8,000 to $11,000).

Other NGC-certified highlights include:

  • a Straits Settlements 1872H Quarter Cent graded NGC SP 63 RB and pedigreed to the William Barrett Collection (Session 1, lot 1195), with an estimate of RM28,000 to RM32,000 (about $6,000 to $7,000)
  • a Straits Settlements 1872H Half Cent graded NGC SP 62 BN and pedigreed to the William Barrett Collection (Session 1, lot 1196), with an estimate of RM28,000 to RM32,000 (about $6,000 to $7,000)
  • a Straits Settlements 1872H Cent graded NGC SP 63 RB and pedigreed to the William Barrett Collection (Session 1, lot 1197), with an estimate of RM28,000 to RM32,000 (about $6,000 to $7,000)
