Hundreds of NGC-certified Chinese Coins Showcased in Spink Auction

The June sale includes NGC-graded rarities from the Imperial era through modern times.

An incredible selection of vintage Chinese coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) are being offered in a Spink currency auction, in four sessions (CSS78A, CSS78B, CSS78C and CSS78D). Bidding is currently underway, with the sale concluding June 3 through June 5, 2022.

One of the top offerings in the sale is a China YR34 (1908) Chihli Silver Dollar graded NGC MS 64 (CSS78C, lot 4182), which has an estimate of HK$200,000 to HK$300,000 (about $25,000 to $38,000 USD). Struck near the end of the Qing Dynasty, this coin is an example of the currency circulated throughout the Chihli province, where the capital Beijing is located.

Other NGC-certified highlights include:

  • a China (1932) Manchukuo Tael graded NGC AU 55 and pedigreed to the Adams Collection (CSS78C, lot 4521), which has an estimate of HK$350,000 to HK$500,000 (about $44,000 to $63,000 USD)
  • a China 1908 Silver Dollar graded NGC AU 58 (CSS78C, lot 4132), which has an estimate of HK$150,000 to HK$180,000 (about $19,000 to $23,000 USD)
  • a China YR3 (1911) Silver Dollar with No Period - Extra Flame graded NGC MS 63 (CSS78C, lot 4143), which has an estimate of HK$150,000 to HK$180,000 (about $19,000 to $23,000 USD)
  • a China 1911 Silver Dollar graded NGC MS 61 (CSS78C, lot 4140), which has an estimate of HK$80,000 to HK$120,000 (about $10,000 to $15,000 USD)
  • a group of 11 Year of the Child coins from various countries (Bolivia, Canada, China, Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Jordan, Mongolia, Nepal, Thailand, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates) graded NGC PF 69 Cameo to NGC PF 70 Ultra Cameo (CSS78D, lot 5155), which has an estimate of HK$80,000 to HK$100,000 (about $10,000 to $12,000 USD)
  • a China 1904 Kiangnan Silver Dollar with Dot Left of 7 graded NGC MS 62 (CSS78C, lot 4230), which has an estimate of HK$70,000 to HK$90,000 (about $9,000 to $11,000 USD)
  • a China 1908 Silver Dollar graded NGC AU 50 (CSS78C, lot 4131), which has an estimate of HK$60,000 to HK$120,000 (about $7,000 to $15,000 USD)
  • a China 1904 Kiangnan Silver Dollar graded NGC MS 62 (CSS78C, lot 4229), which has an estimate of HK$50,000 to HK$80,000 (about $6,000 to $10,000 USD)
  • a China 1905 Kirin Silver Dollar with Rosettes graded NGC XF 45 (CSS78C, lot 4246), which has an estimate of HK$50,000 to HK$70,000 (about $6,000 to 9,000 USD)
  • a China 1911 Silver Dollar graded NGC MS 62 (CSS78C, lot 4142), which has an estimate of HK$45,000 to HK$90,000 (about $5,000 to $11,000 USD)
  • a China 1911 Silver Dollar graded NGC MS 61 (CSS78C, lot 4141), which has an estimate of HK$40,000 to HK$80,000 (about $5,000 to $10,000 USD)
  • a group of six USSR Moscow Olympics Gold 100 Rubles graded NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo to NGC PF 70 Ultra Cameo (CSS78D, lot 5126), which has an estimate of HK$45,000 to HK$60,000 (about $5,000 to $7,000 USD)
