Seven NGC-certified Coins from the Koehlmoos Collection Each Realize Six Figures

Posted on 5/25/2022

The May sale featured over 750 NGC-certified vintage coins, many of them from central Europe.

Seven European gold coins that were certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) each realized over $100,000 in a SINCONA sale on May 17, 2022. The top lots were among more than 750 NGC-graded vintage coins from the remarkable Annemarie and Gerd Koehlmoos Collection.

The top lot in the sale was a rare Great Britain 1746 5 Guineas graded NGC MS 63 (lot 1173) that realized 168,000 CHF (about $168,000). Below the bust of the British monarch, King George II, is the word LIMA, a reminder of the successful capture of the gold raided from the Spanish. After the capture, the metal was transported to the Royal Mint, where it was used to strike coins.
