NGC-certified Ancient and World Coins Offered in Swiss Auction

A selection of ancient and world coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) is being offered in an upcoming auction in Switzerland. Online bidding is currently underway in Chaponnière & Firmenich’s Auction 15, which concludes on May 21, 2022.
The top NGC-certified coin is a Greece 1876A 100 Drachmai graded NGC AU 53 (lot 370), with a starting price of CHF 75,000 (about $79,000). The coin’s obverse displays a portrait of George I, who was king of Greece from 1863 until his assassination in 1913.
Other NGC-certified highlights in the sale include:
- an Austria 1513 Salzburg Klippe 3 Ducat graded NGC MS 63 (lot 85), with a starting price of CHF 60,000 (about $63,200)
- a Great Britain 1826 2 Pounds graded NGC PF 66 Cameo (lot 325), with a starting price of CHF 50,000 (about $52,700)
- an Italy 1786 Sardinia 5 Doppie graded NGC MS 61 (lot 423), with a starting price of CHF 50,000 (about $52,700)
- a Canada 1865 2 Dollars graded NGC SP 63 (lot 143), with a starting price of CHF 27,500 (about $29,000)
- a South Africa 1892 Half Pond graded NGC PF 63 (lot 501), with a starting price of CHF 27,500 (about $29,000)
- a Roman Empire Commodus 176-192 AD Gold Aureus graded NGC Ancients Ch AU, 5/5 Strike and 4/5 Surface (lot 52), with a starting price of CHF 20,000 (about $21,100)
- a Bulgaria 1894KB 100 Leva graded NGC MS 60 (lot 140), with a starting price of CHF 20,000 (about $21,100)
- an Italy 1905R 100 Lire graded NGC MS 62 PL (lot 434), with a starting price of CHF 15,000 (about $15,800)
- a US 1892 $20 graded NGC AU 55 (lot 690), with a starting price of CHF 12,500 (about $13,200)
