NGC-certified Vintage Chinese Rarities Expected to Sell for Six Figures

The highly anticipated Stack's Bowers Rarities Night sale includes several exciting opportunities for collectors.

A wide selection of Asian coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) are being offered in an upcoming Stack’s Bowers sale. Online bidding is currently underway for the various sessions of the May 2022 Hong Kong Auction, including the highly anticipated Session C – Rarities Night, which concludes May 4, 2022.

Several of the NGC-certified rarities are expected to sell for more than $100,000. A top lot is a China 1949 Bamboo Dollar graded NGC XF 40 (Session C, lot 51083), which has an estimate of $200,000 to $400,000. The obverse of the coin features a detailed Chinese pavilion, and the reverse displays stalks of bamboo.

Another top lot is a China 1923 Gold Presentation Dollar graded NGC MS 63+ (Session C, lot 51195), with an estimate of $150,000 to $300,000. The obverse displays a portrait of Tsao Kun, a Chinese warlord and politician who was president of the Republic of China from 1923 to 1924.

Other NGC-certified highlights in the sale's various sessions include:

  • a China 1914 L. Giorgi Silver Dollar graded NGC MS 61 pedigreed to the Richard Wright Collection (Session C, lot 51154), with an estimate of $75,000 to $150,000
  • a China 1916 Pattern Silver Dollar graded NGC MS 63 (Session C, lot 51177), with an estimate of $80,000 to $120,000
  • a China 1997 Gold 2,000 Yuan Panda graded NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo (Session B, lot 50038), with an estimate of $80,000 to $120,000
  • a Japan M13 (1880) 20 Sen graded NGC PF 62 (Session H, lot 56088), with an estimate of $70,000 to $100,000
  • a China 1927 Silver Dollar graded NGC MS 63 (Session C, lot 51206), with an estimate of $70,000 to $100,000
  • a China Year 17 (1928) Kweichow Auto Dollar graded NGC AU 50 (Session C, lot 51077), with an estimate of $50,000 to $100,000
  • a China AH1352 (1933) Sinkiang Silver Mace graded NGC MS 63 (Session C, lot 51089), with an estimate of $50,000 to $100,000
  • a China Year 12 (1923) Silver Dollar graded NGC MS 61 (Session C, lot 51192), with an estimate of $60,000 to $90,000
  • a China 1993 Gold 1,000 Yuan Panda graded NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo (Session B, lot 50032), with an estimate of $45,000 to $60,000
  • a China 1912 Silver Dollar graded NGC MS 64 (Session C, lot 51149), with an estimate of $40,000 to $80,000
  • a China Year 11 (1922) Hunan Constitutional Dollar graded NGC MS 65 (Session C, lot 51026), with an estimate of $50,000 to $75,000
