Spink Offers French Coins from NGC-certified Hubert Lariviere Collection

The March auction includes more than 30 coins from the French engraver's collection.

French coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) pedigreed to the Hubert Lariviere Collection are featured in an upcoming Spink sale. Online bidding is already underway for the Spink Numismatic e-Circular 18 sale, which concludes March 29, 2022.

In 1969, Hubert Lariviere started working at the Monnaie de Paris, the national mint of France. He served as chef du Service de la gravure (chief engraver) from 2003 to 2010. Located on the Seine between the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral, the Monnaie de Paris is the oldest continuously operating mint in the world.

The top NGC-certified lot in the Spink sale pedigreed to the Hubert Lariviere Collection is a group of five France 1993 Silver 100 Franc coins celebrating the Louvre Bicentennial (lot 1924). The coins are graded NGC AU 58 to NGC MS 63. The estimate for the lot is £150 to £250 (about $200 to $330).

Another top lot pedigreed to the Hubert Lariviere Collection is a set of four France 1986 Nickel 10 Francs (lot 1935). Each coin is graded NGC MS 66. The estimate is £150 to £180 (about $200 to $240).

Other NGC-certified highlights pedigreed to the Hubert Lariviere Collection in the sale include:

  • a group of four France 1986 Nickel 10 Francs graded NGC MS 66 (lot 1934), with an estimate of £150 to £180 (about $200 to $240)
  • a group of two France 1995 Silver 100 Francs - Victory in Europe Day graded NGC MS 64 (lot 1927), with an estimate of £140 to £180 (about $180 to $240)
  • a group of four France 1986 Nickel 10 Francs graded NGC MS 65 (lot 1937), with an estimate of £140 to £160 (about $180 to $210)
  • a group of four France Centimes (three dated 1975 and one dated 1977) graded NGC MS 65 to NGC MS 66 (lot 1944), with an estimate of £120 to £150 (about $160 to $200)
  • a France 1982 Silver Essai 100 Francs graded NGC MS 67 (lot 1921), with an estimate of £100 to £150 (about $130 to $200)
  • a France 1982 Essai Nickel-Brass 10 Francs graded NGC MS 67 (lot 1929), with an estimate of £65 to £85 (about $90 to $110)
  • a France 1994 Silver 100 Francs - Liberation of France graded NGC MS 63 (lot 1926), with an estimate of £60 to £80 (about $80 to $110)
