1836 J-69 G$1 PF
Description & Analysis
Judd-69, Pollock-72, High R.7.
The obverse has a Liberty cap appropriately inscribed and surrounded by a glory of rays, the same motif used for the 1836 Mint medal celebrating the advent of steam coinage. The reverse features a large 1 D. in two lines, surrounded by a palm frond, with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the date 1836 around the rim. Struck in silver with a plain edge. Probably a dozen or so of these pieces were struck in silver.
