Description and Analysis
Barber Half Dollars
1908 D 50C MS
Description & Analysis
This issue is among the more well made in the Barber series. The typical Mint State 1908-D half dollar displays superb luster and a full or nearly strike. Examples are common in all grades through MS-64, and the number of gems is a bit higher than for other common issues of the period.
As with both the Philadelphia and New Orleans Mint half dollars of this date, 1908-D is known with a misplaced date variety. Unlike those others, however, it appears as a duplicate numeral zero within the denticles below the 8 of the date.
