Description and Analysis
1879 1C MS
Description & Analysis
1879 is the first of the long series of "common" Indian Head Cents that finish out the series (excluding, of course, the 1908-S and 1909-S cents). The United States economy grew at such a rate after the 1870s that even the reissue of redeemed, older cents could not diminish the demand for millions of additional pieces annually.
Well stuck and lustrous Mint State pieces are fairly plentiful, as are circulated examples in the mid grades.
