Description and Analysis
Coronet Head Cents
1830 1C MS
Description & Analysis
1830 cents are reasonably common in overall numbers, particularly in circulated grades. Mint State examples of several die marriages are common, too, though they are almost never seen with more than a faint trace of red color.
Of 11 known die marriages, all but one (N-6) have the Large Letters reverse style of the 1820s. Among these LL marriages, only N-9 and -11 are rare, though N-3, -4 (photos), -5 and -10 are moderately scarce. The Medium Letters N-6 (called Small Letters in some references) is also a somewhat scarce variety, but its status as the sole entry having this reverse style commands a good premium.
