Copper for medals

1 post in this topic

Many modern base metals medals (coin clubs, etc.) tend to be bronze or brass. If one wanted to make one out of copper, can one make a medal out of .950 (small cent composition) or .9999/4N copper that ends up being the same diameter as the bronze/brass and silver medals that are typically made these days (39mm) with a whole or fractional actual copper weight, e.g. 1.5 oz or 2 oz? I don't have any copper medals around for a frame of reference and think it would be neat if the base metals medals were copper bullion.

Also, there are some 2oz copper medals from the late 1700s on eBay now so the idea isn't a new one wink.gif
