1959 Mexico Gold 20 Pesos - Original vs Restrike

2 posts in this topic

I know this might be a very specific question, but I'm wondering if you can ask one of your experts......

What markings distinguish a 1959 "restrike" Mexico Gold 20 Pesos (mintage of 1,158,414) from an "original" 1959 Mexico 20 Peos (MIntage of 13,000)?

Any help will be appreciated

Also would NGC denote a "restrike" on the slab label?

There is no way to tell the difference between an “Original” and a “Restrike”. The continued using the dies they struck the “Original” coins to strike the restrike pieces in continuing years. NGC will certify all 1959 Mexico Gold 20 Pesos as Restrike.
