In Honor of NevadaS&G: Your Most Head Bashing TPG Result 1 1

Since we all now know (thanks NevadaS&G) that the TPG randomly pull grades out of the air in order to steal our money, I though perhaps people might like to share their most "I want to bash my head against the wall" TPG result.

I've had many, but one of my most memorable would likely be the time I cut a very gem Washington quarter from a 1970's mint set. PCGS proudly assigned it the grade of AU58.

I have only submitted fifty or less coins in my life so other than a few QC bodybags this 1917 dime is the only headscratcher.  Note not worthy of head bashing just a puzzler, I thought MS64 or at worst MS63 on a bad day, but NGC said MS62.  I will post the NGC photo vision photo (which would give the impression that MS62 is correct) and the photos taken by Mark Goodman, those photos give a much better representation of the in hand look.

Then I found it...59 Proof Franklin that I KNEW was a cameo, KNEW IT,, Came back 68 Star... TWICE... TWO TIMES...

Every time I looked at it it ticked me off.. So I put it on ebay .. NO RESERVE... ZERO... 

Winning bidder... rick tomaska    ... RICK TOMASKA...RICK TOMASKA....

Wasn't long after that Rick had a 59 Franklin for sale that was indeed Cameo...

When you write the book on Modern Cameos like Mr Tomaska ... Well you can't get mad ..

They are hard to find and if you do, expensive. My birth set is 1959 and all my coins are 67 cameo except I had to settle for a 67 on the Frankie. No cameo. Too high for my blood. Lol

Sent 4 70's of the same NGC coin to PCGS for crossover.  Only 1 of the 4 crossed.  I mean, a 70 should be a 70 right?

An excellent post.  Well worth the reading.  I sent some US coins to NGC once.  NGC graders took the time to explain to me that coins, like all other living things, can expire and were kind enough to send my coins back in 'Body Bags'!

I second that.  Hope your grades turn out to be all you wanted.  I've dealt with NGC since they opened and cannot find anything bad to say about them.

You said they messed up all 10 coins. Why does your story keep changing? No proof, just false information.

Do you have any IDEA of how much money I've lost on sending that Submission to PCGS, 2 out of 10 coins bagged, MS63 scores on even possibly MS65 coins. I am not running a CHARITY. Jesus H. Christ some of you are DENSE. 9 coins

have to get cracked and sent to NGC, which I'm in the process of, extra Shipping Fees, all MADNESS just to get something done RIGHT that should have been done RIGHT in the first place.

and My mega Toner is in GC's hands getting liquidated right now all because of PCGS's Incompetence !!!

Yes, we do know how much money. You mentioned it was around $500. While every dollar is valuable, it's not exactly life altering money. My TPG bill this past last year is around $50,000. And if you want to talk about an unhappy TPG experience. Earlier this year I had a TPG refuse to holder several esoteric coins for me. Why? Because the TPG's outside authenticator told them not to. The outside authenticator is the exact same person I purchased the coins from.  Yes, the person I bought the coins from told the TPG not to holder them. 

You spent money at PCGS trying to upgrade the coins. You gambled. The coins were in NGC slabs, but you wanted higher grades. PCGS has a lot of faults, but this one is totally on you.

Yes, I understand you lost by playing a game you don't understand. Many do well at the game but it's not something you just jump into and expect to do well.  

Take each coin and study it and try to understand what PCGS was looking at. Great way to learn.

Without any proof I'll just trust that PCGS got it right. NO, I'm not "DENSE". Like others, I just understand it.

Thing is PCGS never looked at it. Your missing the point. They cracked it, removed the green bean, and said lets use the same grade that was on the holder. It's a win win for them, why work ?

If the coin was going to grade at MS-63 no exceptions, give it back in the NGC holder. I dont care about your piece of plastic and the fact you removed the CAC Bean.

So many wrong things were done I could go on for Days + the Email I sent explicitly asking for a 1 grade bump and other things. Don't Lecture me, the only thing I learned from this entire debacle is don't send coins there at all.

Okay, enough of this .  NevadaS&G you have lied,deceived, made more excuses than any other member of this forum has.  Pay attention if that's possible:

1.  What were you doing when you filled out the PCGS Submission Form?

2.  What part of Paragraph 5 of the Submissions Guidelines didn't you comprehend?

3.  In Section 7 COIN DETAILS under MIN GRADE what did you enter, if anything.

YOU SENT THEM AN EMAIL????  You have no business being in the coin business and I don't fully understand how you got the coins graded by NGC with your lack of understanding.  

IF YOU SUBMITTED A COIN TO PCGS THEY WOULD NEVER HAD CRACKED IT OUT OF THE NGC HOLDER UNLESS YOU FAILED TO ENTER THE MIN GRADE YOU DESIRED!   COMPRENDE???

Why do you think they used the same grade that NGC assigned without looking at the coin? If all they did is what you say, can you explain my last 3 invoice submission:

Invoice 1: 45 Coins, 39 crossed, 16 upgraded including 4 new Pop 1/0 and 1 Pop 2/0.

Invoice 2: 6 coins, 3 crossed. Not shocked that the other 3 coins did not cross. They were marginal for their grade.

Invoice 3: 5 coins, 3 crossed, 2 upgraded. These were old ANACS & a SEGS slabs. One of the ANACS and the SEGS upgraded. The 2 that didn't cross, one was called cleaned (I agree, but hoped PCGS would net grade it like ANACS did) and the other I'm very surprised it didn't cross.

There was nothing wrong with that NGC Holder

As if there were not enough anecdotal evidence from your original thread to make it clear that you have zero idea of what you are doing, this comment makes that fact undeniably clear. So you submitted an NGC graded coin to PCGS as a crossover, and now you are upset because they crossed the coin at the same grade (i.e., PCGS cracked it out of the NGC holder and placed it in a PCGS holder with the same numeric grade)? If so, this is your fault for failing to understand the seemingly fool-proof procedure for PCGS crossover submissions. All submitters have the option of requesting a minimum grade for crossover. In other words, you have the option to request that the coin remain in its holder unless it can be crossed at your specified grade, which can be higher or lower than the assigned grade on the original holder. So for your example, you could have specified that your NGC MS-63 not cross at any grade less than what you thought the appropriate grade was (i.e., MS-65). In this case, PCGS did not think your coin was worthy of anything other than MS-63. Had you correctly filled out the form, then the coin would have been returned in its original NGC MS-63 holder. Your comment makes it clear that you never understood the crossover process. It is abundantly clear to those of us well versed in submitting coins to TPGs that the problem started and ended with you.

Maybe i was New and didn't understand their fancy online submission form, that's no right to take advantage of a person. I declared in my email that i would accept a minimum grade of MS64, and someone at PCGS acknowledged

my Email Back. Then I sent the Coins.  

I'll stick to what I know and thats grading my coins at NGC on their forms.

CAC only certifies that the grade the TPG assigned is correct. They aren't a grading Company
