I sent my first submission in today and was wondering if NGC has always started moderns at 1955?

 

There are other services that seem to start with the clads in 1965.

When NGC created its Modern Tier 20 years ago, the date 1955 was selected because that was the year that the values of the coins dropped from the pre-1955 prices for most denominations.

Wait, what? I thought it was cuz I was born in 1955. If it’s during my lifetime, it’s modern. If not, it’s old. By the way, the ANA has chosen 1960 for their cut-off for exhibiting Class 4 - Modern Coins.
