Older Korean gentleman showed me this coin/medal he found in Korea 30-40 years ago.

I haven't seen it in person, hence the picture, but it's the size of a double eagle. No obvious date present.

I think it's a locally produced fantasy piece but if there is any clue out there, or if any one has one, please don't be shy.

I suspect you are right about the fantasy piece. There has definitely never been anything like it in US Mint coinage.

Here is a closer picture. The Etsy listing states that they are hand made, but I don't know if the seller buys the boxes already made, or buys the medals and makes the boxes himself. If you wanted to pursue it, I suppose you could contact the seller and ask. Thanks Just Bob. Looks similar but it has 2 sides and is smaller. I agree JKK, must be a fantasy as the design is to crude to pass muster as anything else. Unless its a souvenir but others would likely be around somewhere.  I'm guessing it's a cast with extensive tooling; possibly soldering/etching as well though I would need to see it closer to judge that better. Hopefully someone out there has a match and a good story to boot.
