I found this coin today while going through my pennies for my granddaughter. I was wondering if it could be worth something? The scale will sometimes while I am weighing pennies, then put it on the scale again turn to 2.9. Please can anyone tell me what they think of this and should I send it in for grading ?

Thank you in advance for any input you have.

Sincerely,

Patty

It is common, and the corrosion is a major issue. It's interesting mainly for non-collectors who do not see them often; it's from the war years where they made them out of brass. Sending it in for grading would not be worthwhile by any stretch of the imagination. Good job weighing it--I'm guessing that the light weight might be due to the combination of moderate wear and notable tarnish.
