1982 d copper coin

2 posts in this topic

Today I found a 1982D penny. After performing the ring and balance test, I am fairly sure it's a copper penny. Im In the process of finding a scale but after the drop test (definite ring vs zinc pennies) and balance test (clearly heavier than zinc pennies) I believe a scale will only confirm my belief. I'm new to coin collecting and assuming the penny will weigh in the 3.11 g  range, what's the next step?

Well.......the next step is determining if it's a Large Date or a Small Date.  If it's a Large Date, it's no big deal and only worth a cent.  The Small Date is the rare one in the copper composition.  If you post some pictures, I'm sure we could help you determine that.

I hope this helps!
