1883 Liberty Nickel Without Cents

I think it would still straight grade. Rim nicks of that size are allowed, but if they are much larger (or if there are several of them), it would details grade.

That being said, the 83 No Cents is literally the most common, least expensive coin in the entire series. The coin grades AU-55 (with borderline damage, as discussed). It is probably worth about $20. I would not recommend having it graded.

I would grade this piece as an AU-53. The rims nicks on the obverse area concern, but the dig at the bottom of the "V" on the reverse might keep it from getting a straight. At any the 1883 No Cents Nickel is very common in AU due to hoarding when it was issued. As such the coin is not worth spending the grading fee on it.
