ASE PF70/ MS70 vs PF69/ MS69

Since about 2007 NGC has graded more coins 70 than grade 69. Is NGC just giving out grade 70 so the dealers will purchase more graded coins from NGC? The change from the 1980's and 1990's is dramatic. 

Grade 70 does not seem to have the same significance as it once did...that's a shame!

My personal experience with the Quality Control of coins that I have received direct from the US Mint makes this grading trend very questionable. 

When will NGC begin grading "71", which will be like the old grade"70"?

Thank you for your question. Please understand that NGC has multiple graders evaluate each coin in order to provide the most consistent and accurate grade possible. We stand by the grade of each coin per our guarantee (see link below) and have been in business for 30 years. Coins are graded based off the quality of the coin and not off what the market requests.
