Rare change find

6 posts in this topic

1988 REV-06 other wise known as the FS 901 wide AM. For those of you wondering what's that. It's a 1988 cent with the reverse of a 1989 cent. I always look at my pocket change and found it. They are known for both the Philadelphia and Denver mints. At one time it was thought the 88 d was rarer, but it's quite the opposite. They bring anywhere from $250 to $400 depending on the grade. Not bad for a cent. Thought I'd share.

I guess that's a nice find.

I don't know what I'm looking for in your photo. I thought wide AM referred to the 'AM' in the word 'America'.

Of course, I may very well be mistaken.

The 1988 issue is rare enough that NGC doesn't yet have a photo, but here's the same variety on a 1998 cent. It is the AM in AMERICA that's the pick-up point:
