I just bought these two raw standing liberty quarters. What do you guys think could be the grade of the coins ?

(2). [1930 Philadelphia Mint]

The images that show some luster have been taken under camera flash, the ones with reddish tinge in normal light & the rest in some form of shadow. Also let me know if you guys would have bought these, what is the maximum you would have paid ?

P.S. If the images appear to be too blurry/big or small, press CTRL and -/+ to adjust page zoom.

You photos are too small to make any comments about the grade or value. Also I tend to get turned off when you get beyond two or three items. You should limit your requests for grade to those numbers when you are asking for grading help.

i believe there are only two different coins, with multiple images of each.

The 1918 D looks Extra Fine IMO and worth about $100 if I'm right.

The 1930 P is a tiny bit better @ xf/au and would fetch $60 at most.

They both look AU 50 to me.

The 18-D has great head detail.

Retail is about $180 & $75, respectively, for non-full head examples.

A dealer will obviously give you less.

Those would be good eBay coins.

Thanks guys. These coins were described as AU by the sellers. From their pictures I expected the coins to be in the mid AU (53-55) spectrum (I paid less than in the NGC Price Guides for the AU grade) . Is it worth it to get these graded by NGC ?

Following were the seller images (the coins look closer to these than the images I took & posted earlier):-

That 18-D is close to a 50 IMO but I'm in the 45 camp.

The 30 is AU something.

As far as submitting, I wouldn't.

These are hard to grade, and sellers are not exempt from this fact.

I would agree with Walkerfan, about the head detail of the 18D. Looks about 45 though.

Most people will tell you not to submit these, but that's all part of learning.

If you can afford it, do it. I've submitted plenty of coins just for the education.

1. Write down what you think it will honestly grade (Not what you dream it to be, or any catch a falling star stuff) .

2. Submit for grading (economy tier, unless your really impatient )

3. Receive your encapsulated coins back.

4. And see how close your grade is compared to TPG .... WAH LA your learning.

That's how you get better .

Best of luck,

Jeremiah

And I wouldn't send the 30 in... :)
