MS66? Delusional plastic. Unc and maybe 61 or 62, if that....just an opinion based on the photo.

I'd need to see the full slab before I'd believe this was really graded a MS-66. Just to many dings around the eye, to many tics in the hair, and 1 to many craters on the cheek. Sorry Jayman, looks more like a MS-62 at best to me. Wouldn't mind seeing the reverse. Maybe if that's prefect it may have had something to do with the grade. This would be the right coin to sell on eBay with a fuzzy picture. Good luck on the set.

I just reviewed NGC Washington census and then a fast purge of Ebay for NGC MS66 coins. Census states that there are over 400 MS66. Mayb the toning has something to do with this higher grade for this coin. IMHO.

Ebay shows only a few NGC MS66 Washington 25C coins. All, with or without toning, appear to rate the MS66 grade. :wishluck:

As the old saying goes -- buy the coin and not the label. Also, the appeal of a coin is in the eye of the beholder. If Jayman and others feel it rates a NGC MS66, so be it. I, IMHO, agree with the majority, this coin is not a NGC MS66.

Jayman, by any chance did your fingers hit the wrong number key when you typed your post? Can you post the registry number of this coin so we can see the stats?

Best wishes to all, over the summer, and may you all find THAT coin you have been looking to have for your collection.

Semper Fi !

I tend to agree with others. This is not MS66 to me. The decription for MS66 per PCGS description are as follows:

MS66: Above average strike. Full mint luster is required for the MS66 level. A mint state 66 graded coin should have above average eye appeal and be considered attractive for the issue. A few, small scattered marks may be present, but not a single, large obvious mark that detracts from the overall nice appeal of the coin.

First let me say that I think the coin is overgraded, but for some of you to say that you don't think it is in a 66 slab is BS!! I have no reason to lie about the grade, and all you needed to do was look in my registry set to get the cert number. Below is the sellers pictures which are not blown up like the one I posted, the coin looks much nicer in those pictures. I have also heard buy the coin and not the holder, but without having the coin in hand all you have is a picture and the reputation of the TPG to go by. So look at the pictures and let me know what you think just judging from this set of pictures.

I'm sure that no one, not even myself, ventured to look up your cert # or check your registry to verify grade. I'm sure no one was calling you a liar, was just going by your opening post and making opinions on the picture shown. I also agree that the sellers pics were a little misleading. It does look in better condition looking at sellers pics. With your new pics, I'm sure you can see the difference, and why the opinions were given. I guess now it is your call to return the coin or let it live in it's slab.

Bobby,I don't mind the criticism by most it was just the wording of one particular post that ruffled my feathers :) the coin is actually quite nice in hand and the "crater " on the face is invisible when viewed in hand. some people need to realize the first photo was blown up and the nicks seem giant.

Photos can make coins look worse than what they are, I know that with some of mine. lol As long as you are happy with it is all that matters my friend.

You guys gotta think a little!! This pic is what---30X or 50X. With the naked eye you probably can barely see the hit in the cheek and the fields and reverse are perfect.

Jason, I am with you on this. From the sellers pictures that looks like a beauty. Also, like you said just enter the certification number and it shows that the coin is graded MS66 by NGC. Even buying from the most reputable auction houses out there, photos can be so deceiving when making a decision based on the photos alone.

I send a few to NCS and NGC when I can afford to. The grades are TOOO low compared to my papers but --- "it is what it is!!" And when they come back with the 67, 67PL or 68 ----YEE HAW!!!

I go for the more photogenic view on choices but still need a little training. Can't wait to see my NCS submission completed. :)

After this 70's submission I have the 80's and 90's awaiting shipment. Just need to get the grades on the 70's first to see if I need to adjust the new submission before I print it out and ship it.

Later--Rick

Hi Jayman, Sorry some time people don't think what thay said befor thay put there foot in there mouth, i think this coin is a great looking washington, the toning makes this quarter stand tall!!, it give it life. Don

The toning is great and I think that when a photo is blown up, it can show flaws much more. If we did a closeup of everyones face, we would see pores and flaws.

Keep it up!!
