Since no one got the answer correct, perhaps some additional information will be helpful. The Unique Coin Holder was invented in 1927 by M. L. Beistle to house his own collection of half dollars, so that he could study the coins side-by-side for the book he published on that subject in 1929. When others saw these holders and commented on their usefulness, Beistle realized the commercial possibilities and began mass producing them. He also made cover panels that could be attached to the holders with metal rings, thus creating the first coin album. Beistle received a patent for this product in 1929 and then sold the marketing rights to his albums to coin dealer Wayte Raymond in 1930. Raymond expanded the line and renamed it the National Coin Album.
