Probably not very valuable but a good example of a clip with a tilted partial collar.

Interesting as most all of the 1967 double mint error - clipped/partial collar Washie's I've ever seen have been SMS strikes.

I sold this one not too long ago, but it was one of the favorites in my collection for many years. Can't keep stuff forever I guess. :(

I like this thread! I was going to start a thread about wheat cent errors, but I didn't want to duplicate yours.

I sent in several error coins to NGC and they are in process. I will post pics once I get them back.

I sent in:

-1922-D 1 cent, Clipped at 3:00

-1951-D one cent. RPM (Unsure which RPM it is, I will know soon)

-1970-D one cent Die Clash.

I sent in two variety coins also.

-1921-S Morgan. micro S

-1964 dime. Blunt 9.

I will have pics and detail once I get them!

That 1968 JFK half is neat. I have a bunch of DDR Kennedy halves in 2x2's.

I also have a 1971-D that is missing the reeded edge. Does anyone know anything about that? I wanted to send it in but I'm not sure if its worth it. Any info someone can share on coins with missing edging?

Dave - Can't know for sure without seeing pics, but the most common cause of worn/missing reeding on clad Kennedy halves is slot machine use. Check the wear on the rest of the coin. If it looks generally beat up like its been banged around a casino with other halves, you can be sure that is the culprit.

I put the wrong date. Its a 1992 P JFK. The coin has good detail but has lots of small and light scratches. No ding or dents at all. Could it still be from slot machines? I thought Casinos stopped taking coins and started the whole electronic thing around 1993 or so? (I could be very wrong, I am not very familiar with casino tech plus I'm not a huge gambler. scratch that, I'm not a huge slot player. Blackjack tables are where you will find me lol.)

Dave - Still sounds like a slot machine half to me. The "lots of small and light scratches" is a sure sign it has been banging around other halves in machines. Measure the diameter of the half--if it is larger than 31mm, you could have a broadstruck half which is a genuine error. If it is 31mm or less, you surely have a slot machine half. They are pretty common.

I have one of these too.

Coinman, I'm 99.9% sure I used to own your now 16-S along with another B/S of the same date in MS65. I traded them both along with a group of 11 other error and non error coins on this unique Merc error below at either the first or second CoinFest show.
