What would you grade this 1924 Penny from South Africa?

I must admit I possess absolutely no knowledge of coins from other countries, but I would agree with Walker on grade, as I suspect that the standards would not be much different than if this were a Lincoln.

Foreign coin grading can sometimes be very conservative. By American standards the sharpness grade would appear to be AU-50 maybe 55. But the coin does have an odd color for a copper piece so that might lower the grade if the color is not "normal."

 

British grading standards are really tough, or at least they were the last time I encountered a British collect. Under their system this would only be an EF coin, ignoring the color.

As has already been stated this coin would grade as EF in the UK but is an easy AU50 in the US.

I would have guessed "choice very-fine" by international standards, but EF-40 or better by U.S. standards.
