Lisa please cansell my first answer an put in it's place Isaac scott hathaway. honored with a 1zo gold medal was Grant Wood and with a 1/2zo gold medal was Mariam Anderson all happin in 1980. Isaac Scott Hathaway was the artist.

The artist on the 1980 one ounce gold medallion is Grant Wood and the painting is American Gothic, his most famous work by far.

 

The woman in American Gothic was modeled after his sister Nan and the man was his dentist, Dr. Byron McKeeby.
