  1. I see some doubled lines around the 5 on reverse. A couple of die cracks.
  2. Was going through some world coins and came across this. It looks like a true double die. I did some research ,and this coin is a common coin. Just wanted to hear your thoughts about this one .thanks
  3. Got the results back. Flate doubling, cool to know proofs are double struck. Well I know a little bit about proofs and how there minted. I want to thank everyone for taking time to look at this thread. One day I'll find something very cool, but got to be patient and keep hunting.
  4. Sorry everyone, after checking and pushing around the edges of the coin on a flat surface, JPs right the coin is bent. Very slightly though. Didn't notice that while looking at the coin. Wow, I guess there's always something new to know, I would have never thought about checking it that way. Thanks JP
  5. What would be the best way to post the coin for it not to look like two dimensional pictures.
  6. I'm trying to figure out what you mean, I pulled it out of the roll just like this. It does look like two different coins but same coin. I'm looking at this with a scope then back and forth from magnifying. There's nothing on it, at first sight I thought dryer coin. It kinda looks like a damaged ones I've seen on line but no zinc showing. It still has the copper and has no evidence of a tool or feeder machine marks.
  7. Im looking at the top right corner of the Lincoln memorial. So in the first three pictures is same coin. I know for sure that's MD. I get those often and sometimes keep them. But the second coin ,which would be the last three pictures of the coin, is somewhat different, Is that also MD. Pretty Awesome by coming across two of these coins in the same box.
  8. Would this be a grease die, here's another one I have no clue. I don't know this kind of stuff on zinc. I pretty much only look for the CAM or WAM on these from 92s and up. I been trying to search different types of error it might be with this coin, and I'm not having any luck. By investigating the coin more, I don't know if this is a mint error or damaged. Thanks for any help with this one.
  9. RJO that's funny, I was just thinking the same. I really don't like looking at zinclons for anything, but this was just not to be noticed. What sucks on the zinc penny's is, or I feel to much bubbles, grainy as you mentioned and just poorly minted. Your right when the coin has alot of that going on, its seeing optical illusion. I still like to stick with cooper, I feel there more desirable when looking for errors.
  10. This sure looks like doubling to me, but I could be wrong. If not, e'm I getting close to what one might look like. Very interesting
  11. So true, ridiculous how there pricing are . I go back and forth from pawnshops and antique shops. Antique shops think they have a huge gold mined.
  12. Can you provide pics of the whole obverse and reverse of the coin. You'll get a better response. My opinion there's alot of glare in your pics. Just saying, is it in a 2x2 flip or capsule is why I'm seeing glare in your photos. Crop and take pictures right side up.
  13. Yeah, there's only two banks that I know of that's close by that has them. And just one bank 40 miles from me that has the dollars coins. Not to many options where I'm at.
  14. Picked up a couple of half dollar rolls from the bank, and this coin is the closest without FG. To be honest the FG is there but very fainted. Did research and found out fainted FGs don't count. Took the picture at a angle. Just shows how anyone could mislead someone by pictures/photos. But cool misaligned die. More and likely I will throw this back in circulation, coin is very bad circulated. Thought I would share.
  15. Maybe we all can guess what it may be, that would be alot of fun. But here's a pic that I pointed out a couple of things that shouldn't be there.
  16. Hi Karen, glad to hear you're back. Yeah kind of interesting, I don't know anything about proofs but something not right going on. I sent this coin in yesterday to have it looked at. I just know if they have it in hand they can tell me more about it. Soon as I get the results back I'll post it on here.
  17. Thanks JP, I'm thinking that might have happened too. Some of the weirdest stuff out there searching threw rolls.
  18. On proof coins would this be considered doubling. That actually has the shape of its head on top. Or is that something else going on. Hmmm
  19. So what would be the best way to keep something like this safe. It does move but won't come off. I thought it was some kind of lent. It was in the right position and now straight up and down position. When turning the coin it shifts. Sorry about the pic of the obverse, just didn't want to lay it down on the reverse incase that fell off. Thanks for any advice on this really interesting coin.
  20. Bought a few coins in 2x2 flips for 50 cents a piece. Wondering if this one is die deterioration or maybe erosion, or possibly Mechanical doubling. Hopefully my pic's does justice. Interesting coin. Thanks
  21. Could this actually be doubled or just plate blister. I mean it connects with the Bowie. Thought maybe someone can chime in on this. Thanks.
  22. So I'm looking at the left side on the obverse of coin, which I would say is true MAD. The right side I see alot showing up also called MAD, but been told it has alot to do with plating issues. Especially on Zinc. When I see one's looking like on the left side of coin, I throw back in circulation. Curious about this one. Any help would be appreciated .thanks
