    Response to W.K.F. Journal
I didn't see a Chat Board link to discuss W.K.F.'s recent journal regarding the potential composition change in the 5-cent piece, so I am posting a journal.
He makes several references to the 75% copper content of the 5-cent piece as a primary reason for starting to hoard/accumulate bulk rolls, but a check on bullion prices showed that copper is trading today at $3.23/pound while nickel (25% of coin) is trading at $6.42/pound. Based on current bullion commodity pricing, approximately 60% of the bullion value of the 5-cent is based on copper, while the remaining 40% is based on nickel.
My point is: When evaluating the bullion value of the nickel (5-cent piece), don't forget to include the value of the nickel (metal).

    Big Green Label Haul!
Over the weekend I picked up a lot of 29 Kennedy halves from the Old World Coin Shop in McHenry, Illinois. All were in PCGS slabs, and 27 of the 29 were green labels. The only two blue labels were top pops: a 1968S PR69DCAM and a 1970S PF69DCAM. Highlights among the green labels were a 1966 SMS MS68 and a 1969S PR69DCAM (another top pop). The rest were a mix of earlier MS65 and MS66, many of which I have never seen come up for auction on eBay. All but 5 of the halves were new slot fillers or upgrades to my graded collection. Several have definite upgrade potential if resubmitted.
    The halves were part of a large collection of PCGS Kennedy and Ike slabs (mostly green labels) that the coin shop bought last winter. I picked up a smaller group earlier this year that included 1973S MS68, 1974S MS68, & 1976 Type 1 MS65 Ike dollars and 9 Kennedy halves (1964 MS66, 1964D MS65, 1968D MS66, 1971D MS67, 1972D MS67, 1980P MS67, 1992P MS67, 1993D MS67, & 1995 MS67).
My sets are still a long way from the top but I feel like these additions sure add some respectability to them.
There are still several left from the original collection that I didn't get (yet) including some tough early MS67's if any of you guys are interested. Ask for Gary. If they're still around much longer, I may not be able to help myself.

    A rush to judgment?
I was just reading Beaw's post and had a completely different opinion. One of the main reasons I register my coins is to help find them in case of theft. In the case of the initial owner who registered the coins despite not receiving them, I might well have done the same thing so that I might be able to track down the thief if they entered the market.
I do feel that all coins should be immediately de-registered when transferred to another owner (via sale or gift) and I have been personally perturbed by ebay sellers that consistently maintain registration on coins that I purchased until prompted to give them up. However, I have inadvertently been guilty of this myself a couple of times, so I can understand that mistakes can happen.
