Went on a buying spree!!
Good morning everybody,
Yep, that is how I would put it...A buying spree! And I sure did enjoy it. I added 5 more coins to my collection from Heritage and Ebay. Everything seemed to fall together at one time...meaning the coins I was looking and at the right prices.
The only issue I am having is trying to find Proof strikes. They are available on ebay but only with BIN and way over market value. Also, nothing has been showing up on Heritage or Teletrade lately.
I have a complete set of 70s and 69s
Hi everybody,
I wanted to offer here first 2 SAE 25th Anniversary Sets that I am looking to sell. One set is a complete 70 graded NGC and the other is a complete 69 NGC graded. Both sets are Early Release and both have all the original packaging from the Mint.
If anyone is interested, drop me a line. I also have pictures available of the coins.

The 3rd purchase this year
Hello Everybody,
Just wanted to share really quick my newest addition to my Modern Commemorative Set, a 2001 Capitol Silver $1 graded MS70. It was one of those impluse buys that we all do once in awhile and for $80, it wasn't too bad on the pocket book.
Take care

And my first purchase.
Hello Fellow Collectors,
My first experience with Heritage went quite nicely. I joined up at the biginning of the year and spent a few days reseaching past auctions on numerous modern commemoratives. I found out that there are some very nice coins to be had at very nice prices. Even when the final value includes the buyer's premium...which put me off at first...the prices were well under the completed and BIN auctions on Ebay.
I put some bids on a few coins and won t

Hi fellow Collectors,
I hope everybody enjoyed their Christmas and New Years. My family and I went down to San Francisco to spend Christmas with my brothers. It was the first time in a couple years that all 4 of my brothers and all of the kids my were able to get together. A most enjoyable and fun time! New Years was quiet for myself and my wife. We just stayed home while my girls went out enjoyed themselves. The weather was wonderful and no snow on the ground this
A great addition/upgrade to my collection!
Hello fellow coin collectors,
I would like to share 2 of my most recent purchases...the 2001 Buffalo Commemoratives. I am very happy to add both these 70 graded coins to my collection. They are upgrades to my 69s that I orginal purchased from the Mint. They are an awesome tribute to the buffalo nickles and the Mint real "hit one out of the park" with these commemoratives.
They are one of the most popular modern comms to ever be minted. The total a
Added 3 in the last couple days.
Hi everybody,
Over the last couple days I received 3 new Commemoratives to add to my collection. My first was an 2004 EDISON graded PF70UC. This is my first commemorative that has a point value over 1000. I don't follow my ranking that much but I did notice quite a jump when that coin was put into my inventory.
My other 2 coins are the 2002 OLYMPICS grade MS70 and PF70UC. I ran across these 2 coins on Ebay for a BIN price of $190! Quite a bit under FMV. Nee
Reverse Proof PF 68...WTF!!
Here are the results of my 5 sets that I submitted. I am happy with the results except for the Reverse Proof that got a 68!

I love the Military themed coins!
Hello everybody,
I was able to add a couple very nice coins to my modern commemorative collection the last few days...the 2011 Medal of Honor in the proof and MS versions. Both are graded 70 and look awesome.
I have to say the U.S. Mint does a fine job with the military themed coins. The MoH has become one of my favorites!
The MoH represents not only the individual's great service to our country but the greater service they do to and for each other in t
Selling them off!
Hi everyone,
I just want to drop a little note letting people know my SAEs...both Proof and MS...are available for sale. I have found that I am losing my passion for the Silver Eagles.
Lately, I have been collecting them just to fill a slot and I guess, out of some sort of obligation to complete a collection I have started. That I believe, is no way to collect coins.
My passion is still high for the silver $1 modern commemoratives and I will still pursue those, especia
Hoping they find a good home!
Hi everybody,
I just want to drop a little note and let everyone know that I am selling my Mordern Commemorative 50c collection and narrowing my attention down to SAEs and Modern Commemorative Silver Dollars.
I haven't been too excited about these coins lately and money I have put aside for upgrading the 50c always seem to be used for SAEs and $1 comms.
The set is complete including the 1996 Proof Olympic Soccer that doesn't show a coin...it's a PF-69UC. Th
Just 2 more to go!
Hi fellow collectors,
I was able to add another nice piece to my 50c Modern Commemorative collection the other day...the 1996 Olympics Soccer coin in an MS-70 grade. That leaves just 2 more to go to finish up the series. I had a bid on one other but the price went higher then I wanted to pay. Being patient does pay off though and they will eventually come at a fair price.
Take care

and at a great price!
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to share my latest purchase...a proof 1996 Olympics Swimming 50c piece. I have been looking for the 1996 swimming and soccer coins for the last few months but I only found ones that were way over FMV.
When this one came along on Ebay, the seller's pic still had the sticker price of $44 displayed on the slab. I contacted him and said that I would pay his asking price but he refused. Now get this...his reason was that the sticker price did not r
What if NGC placed a point premium of Early Releases?
Hi everyone,
This past weekend Moondoggy sent me an email to go and check out the points assigned for the 2011 Proof SAE in the registry. To my amasement...the PF70 was awarded 3000 points and it went all the way down to near 1000 points for the lowest grade! Now obviously NGC made a mistake and when I contacted them, it was corrected quickly.
But my question I posed to Moondoggy was this: What if NGC did give a point premium to Early R
Great customer service from the U.S. Mint
Hi everybody,
Here is the follow up to the problem with my SAEs. I called the Mint customer service today and was expecting a BS answer like "return your coins and we will replace them" but that was far from the what happened. The lady I talked to apologized for THEIR error and was more then happy to send out 2 COAs. She was very pleasant and seemed genuinely concerned about my problem. The entire phone call lasted about 3 minutes. I was quite surpri
or maybe the U.S. Mint needs to do a better job on quality control!
Hello collectors,
I received my 3 proof SAEs today and to my surprise, 2 of them did not come with the Certificate of Authenticity. So I guess those 2 must of been farmed out to China for minting.
Anyways, did anybody else come up a bit short with their SAE order from the Mint?...and if you did, what did you do to fix the problem? I will be giving customer service a call and see if anything can be done to fix this little
Actually...I bought the label instead of the coin.
Hi everyone,
I went with buying a label when I was ready to pick up a 2011 SAE a few days ago. I had quite a few different labels to choose from and that was the motivating factor...after the grade.
The first 2 labels are the common BROWN and the ER BLUE. I guess these are the only 2 available for "casual" submitters, like myself, to NGC. Since I have these types of labels in my collection, it was a no brainer to skip on those. The other
And what is up with 1996 Olympics 50c comms???
Hello fellow collectors,
Here is my latest addition to my modern comm collection...2004 Lewis and Clark PF 70 UC. It was kind of an oddball puchase. I was looking at upgrading one of my 2001 Buffalos and was going through my "saved" sellers on Ebay and ran across this coin. I liked the photos and placed my highest bid and a few days later...WINNER!
I have also been looking to finish up my 50c comms and I thought it would have been done a while
and the US Mint did a horrible job with quality control!
Hello everyone,
I got my returns back from NGC and I am very happy with the results!

2 - 2011 US Army $1 MS70

1 - 2011 US Army 50c PF69UC
2 - 2011 US Army 50c MS69
The Mint really dropped the ball with the quality of the MS US Army 50c pieces. I took out my 2008 Bald Eagle 50c and compared the two. It is like night and day. The Army coins have vis
And they look much better!
Hi everyone,
Back in February I posted a journal entry about how I "bought the slab and not the coin" involving 2005 MS John Marshall Commemorative Silver $1 in a banged up slab. I just got it back today from NGC and...WOW... what a difference it makes. It's great admiring the coin now that I am not looking at it through a haze of scratches and scuff marks. It turned out to be a very good buy once all the costs were figured in.
I also sent in a 1995 WWII $1, 2001
...a different way to add a coin to my collection.
Hi everyone,
It's been awhile since I posted anything here or bought a coin. Most of my time over that last few weeks was spent organizing my collection of Star Trek themed Starship Christmas ornaments. Only need 2 more to finish up that collection. One I need is the first year that the series was introduced so that is not going to be cheap.
When my attention came back to coins, I was looking for 2005 John Marshall MS70 commemorative. I ca
and a couple small purchases.
Hi everyone,
I would like to say congratulations to the journal and set winners out there. They are all well deserved. It was very enjoyable and informative reading all the journal entries throughout the year. I also got great enjoyment looking through all the collections and following along when coins are added.
My collection grew just a bit lately. I added an MS68 1982 Washington 50c commemorative. It took me awhile to find this coin in the edge view holder
and a few 50c commemoratives added!
Hello all,
Yesterday was a fine day...very quite at the station with no calls and I was able to get some paper work done. But what was exciting is that my daughter texted me to let me know that my SAEs arrived from the Mint! I ordered 3 of them and they all look awesome! After the bad news from the Mint that no proofs for 2009...then the great news that they will be minted for 2010...then the e-mail problems the Mint had..."sorry to say your order has been

Hello and good day to everybody,
I wanted to share a few coins that I purchased over the last few days...1991 Mt Rushmore 50c and 1995 Olympics/Baseball 50c commemoratives grade MS-69. The 50c comms are very inexpensive at this grade and very easy to find. It leaves me with only 8 more coins to go to finish this set.
I was also very happy to hear the the Mint will be issuing the 2010 Proof SAEs in a few weeks. I forgot that I still had a su

I am very happy to say that I have been able to add 5 more commemoratives to my slowing growing collection.

1993 James Madison Bill of Rights 50c MS69
1995 Civil war 50c MS70
I have been going after the 50c comms more then the $1 lately and I have about 10 more to go to finish that collection. I should have that done in about a years time. I think it's a great way for y
