H.E.L.P.- From the Registry Community

Advance grading I religiously, (without purchasing) watch that coin show that airs on TV. What puzzles me is the mint will release the Walking Liberty Half Dollar 2016 Centennial Gold Coin on November 17, 2017. The official mintage will be 70,000 with a household order limit of 3. I realize that these large companies cosign multiple people to order coins for them which accounts for them having so many coins immediately upon the release. My problem is how can this dealer air on November 13 th

When 100% isn't enough

Trying to Complete My ultimate goal is to have one each of the highest graded NGC coins for the year 2006. Although I have achieved the number 1 ranking with 100 % completion in all eleven (11) of the competitive categories I am still eight (8) coins away from my ultimate goal. This goal is also listed in my custom set (known as "2006 Completist of Postmodern U.S. Coins"). The custom set includes additional coins that aren't included in the competitive area of the registry. Completing a Collection

Part 1 of 2 of my goal Like most of us collectors we start a collection only to find completing them to be the hardest achievement. I am down to one coin and have been searching and watching the internet to no avail. I have attended coins shows but since my search is for a modern coin the coin shows don't offer much in that area. Anyone having the knowledge or whereabouts of the coin listed below I would greatly appreciate your letting me know. 2006 NGC Proof 70 First Strikes $100 Platinu

The Great Debate

Why do we collect? I enjoy the dialog W.K.F. opened that has collectors of all in a very good debate. If one would digest the responses collectively you can conclude that the right answer is everyone?s personal choice. I understand because my registry goal for my 2006 coin collection is to assemble the highest grade coins based on NGC population. In that achievement only one of these competitive registry sets will make me #1 exclusively unless someone enters one of the two PCGS coins that ar

Use of the Registry

My perception I have been collecting for 50+ years and have enjoyed every day. My prize collection is small cents from 1857 to date. With over 400 coins I am very happy with them as they are although I would love for them to be certified. I feel it is too costly to have them NGC certified which means the value of my set has decreased. If they were certified as a collector I would not care what the point value or the ranking was because I love my set as it is. Yes there are a few coins that I w

2006 Upgrage

Down to the wire Fellow Collectors Some of us get collectors fever when starting a registry set. Then the closer you get to completion we go from collectors fever to collector?s obsession. I am now at collector?s obsession. In my quest to have the highest NGC graded 2006 US coin set I am on my final upgrade journey. In the competitive registry category I had to list them in 6 areas, however in the custom section I was able to assemble one registry set. As I am trying to assemble all 10

Obscuring Collection - 2

DFJ I agree with Jay Ramsey only 50%. Privecy and Security only. However, if a collector wishes to be competitive you should reveal your coins. How can one compete if one does not know his competition goal? Competition means challenging your opponet, I can't challenge you if I don't know what you have. Suggestion: Maybe NGC can come up with a method once competitors get within the top 3 slots access to view obscure sets would be available to those competitors only. If your share the #1 spot
