About this journal

All bullion coins are minted at West Point, NY.  The S mint mark is a scam to make people think they are getting something special, at double, or triple the going price of a real Silver Eagle. In effect, the "S" coin is a phony, and doesn't have a place in the Registry. "Minted at" coins fall into the same category. The label can say anything they want.....even the Sheboygan Mint!

NGC removed the other coins, this one has to go also.

I too laid out hundreds of dollars only to have them erased, such  as the "2000 Millennium" ASE. Another gem that we "had" to have.  They won't pay   those coins we now have to eat.

A PERFECT 10 ???

Do I merit a higher score? I wanted to have the best of something to pass on. I believe the 10 Sacagawea NGC PF 70 Ultra Cameo should be at the top. I believe them to be better than just a set of 9. Should a new score of 4681 be in line? I am close to finishing at least 1 more Sac set in PF 70 UC(only 9)and perhaps another if I can find them. Well, it's all over for this year, but I will strive to get at least 1 honor in the future. I would like to thank all those that helped me. I wou

A PENNY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS?

I see experts are like playoffs. Don't get me started on playoffs. Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a happy, and safe 4th. I tried a week ago to query the braintrust of the Society, and I am still as baffled as before. HELP!!! I recently acquired a box of pre-decimal New Zealand coins. There are a few 1945 pennies. I'd like to send them to NGC for grading, however, there is also a slot for the 1945 "burnished flan" coin? How does one tell the difference? KM#s are 13 and 13A. I can

A MILLION THANKS!

I couldn't be more pleased. Hello all! A quick note of thanks for all of the replies on my Canadian snowflake. I was starting to search when I was inundated with so many helpful replies from all the great members in this Society. I now understand that I can get it graded, but there is, at present, no slot for this "embellished" coin. I have Sacagaweas...I know about a "no points" coin. Just the same, I now own one. I also want to thank everyone in unison. THANK YOU ALL! I find

A little good news!

This will at least please someone.one coin, one Hello fellow collectors.....friend and foe. Like it or not.......some members of the Society have chosen the member they feel has the most need. I honored that consensus and passed on the funds. Like it or not, we may save a member. We are all here for the same reason. No members, no Society. I want to thank the members that stepped up to the challenge. I'd like to thank all that emailed me with support, ideas, or actual donations. If th

A FLY IN THE OINTMENT

This really happens with all this modern technology? Hi All, I just tried to enter the coin I have into the Registry....again. Here's what gets kicked back: We continued to have problems with the following Certification numbers. They have been added to our admin queue to be processed. You will receive notification when processing is complete. Slot Cert # Coin Description 1942 ONE DOT ONLY 3324670-001 This is not the best grade, but no one else has it. A FIRST TIME FOR ME!

I guess it had to start somewhere. Hello all, Well, I have finally done it. I joined the Registry to see what it is all about, and I have taken my next baby step. Today I submitted my first coins for grading. I have several unopened proof sets that were given to me, and I finally broke down and sent one to NGC. Being only a Premier member, I thought the coupon with my subscription was the better way to get my feet wet. I decided on a 1958 proof set as my first submission. I filled out

A DEALER'S LIFE

It must be nice. Hello everyone! I just got through looking at a submission by a dealer. I'm glad to see that 50% of his coins were rejected for the rubber stamp issues. Some of those graded are bad. If I had a hint of green, I'd get the "ED" label. I wonder how many he submitted as a UNC were graded as AU? Shoot, he had to pay for something. I guess the don't have to pay for anything ungradable. If they send in 100 coins, you know they'll get some percentage good grades. They don't pay for

A DAY LATE AND A.............?

Few COAs short! Hello everyone! Here I thought I was doing everything right. I filled out the submission forms with everything needed to adequately convey my submission to the actual/eventual graded slab. I just happened to omit: The Certificate of Authenticity!!! Some Canadian coins have a serial number on the COA. Can everyone in unison say DUH??? Thank goodness a fax is somewhat faster than snailmail. My coins arrived, and they should mate up tomorrow or the next day. The next

A Collector's Dilemma

How would this get graded? Hello everyone! Here is the answer to easing expenses. How do I submit it to NGC? May we never have to decide on this option! God Bless the USA!

A CLOSE SECOND PLACE

PCGS is catching up! Hi everyone, Remember when you wanted to add a few PCGS coins, but they weren't available yet? A complete set of some would take almost the full year. I see PCGS has 2011 proofs already graded and they are just barely out of the Mint. I am fortunate to have a few sets, and now I can enter them with the others as they come out. No more waiting months. It seems to make it easier for scanning and entering also. I would love to have a few PCGS sets in 70, but at the pr

A 100% POSITIVELY COMPLETE SET

It came sooner than I expected. Hi everyone! I was just emailing back and forth, about trying to complete a set, and moving on. Another member and I were wondering where the end was. Well.............. I received my grades from the latest submission, and it's great news. I have the missing slots filled. Numbers are pending still, but they are there. I will do the imaging as soon as they arrive. It's my NZ 3d (three pence) set. It can use some improvements, but it's finally finished. I h

A "FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH" PIC

If I had your money, I could burn mine. Hello everyone. I finally came up with the answer to the silver shortage, and rising heating costs. I am not sure if it will catch, but it was an idea. We should all have a little money to burn.

50th Quarter in the ATB set

Is it Colorado? When the Mint and the Parks Department promise to give each school child a "new" coin for attending, it was supposed to be the Battle of Saratoga quarter. The plastic capsules o one little girl contained a Colorado Statehood quarter. A few dealers said it was the worst introduction they had ever been to. Everyone had to drive to the local Post Office for stamping. Another inconvenience. I believe someone should make good on the promise of the new "50th" coin. The Mint is defini

4 OUT OF 5 IS NOT GOOD!

At least the strapless penny was right. Hello everyone! It all came to pass. If you've followed my last two weeks of journals, you,ll be right on top of this. My KM13-A NZ, 1d Penny, is now just a plain 1945 penny. That's two they blew. I sent either a PL or PF, 1945, to NCS for fingerprint removal. They did a great job. It does look nice, however, it's got a purple slab.....yup. It's polished. Gee, my eyes are playing tricks on me. I guess I have to send all my proofs back to be relabel

2012 NGC PF70 Presidential Set Early Releases Multiholder

Are they the new "dinosaur?" Hello everyone, I am looking for the 2012 Presidents in a multi. NGC PF70 ER. If you have one, or know someone, please contact me? I can find every other year, but 2012 seems to be elusive. I would like to complete my set, and need this one multi....for now   Thanks To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. 2011 SILVER EAGLES

Bah humbug! Hi everyone, I have just completed the 2011 ASE set. It's amazing how it took 6 coins to get it done. Two of the coins have no mint mark? They just claim to be minted at San Francisco and West Point. Funny how the others have a corresponding mint mark as to where they came from. A few more years of this and I'll go back to sports cards. I guess the economy is booming everywhere else. My pockets are so much more empty now! I still have the best PF69 set, so I shouldn't complain

2011 SACAGAWEA PROOF DIE CRACKS???

Is it really a PF70ER? Hello everyone, I just received a 2011 Sac PF70ER in the mail, and was examining it when I found 2 tiny die cracks between 7 and 8 O'clock on the true reverse of the coin. The coin is definitely a 70, but I wonder if any more of you have noticed this. With the relatively small number of 70s, as compared to other years, might they qualify as a "mint error" also? If you have one or more, I'd like to know. On another hand, are any of you sending in coins to be graded, a

2010 PREZZIES ARE HERE!

I have some nice coins, but lousy imaging! Hi All! At least I tried and didn't obscure my set. My scanner is on vacation. It should be back today if I can get te error message to go bck to where it came from. My all-in-one did it, but what a lousy image for coins. Not to worry. I will somehow get up and running to get these beauties redone and looking better. I have my Canadians to image also.........whatta week this will be. Thanks to the powers that put my sets up front! 2009W PF 69 SILVER EAGLE

Hey....I'm only showing you what's out there for sale. Hello everyone! I knew someone would destroy the myth about the 2009 "collector", W mint, American Silver Eagles. I guess if you play with a few items in PhotoShop you wind up with a winner. I received another new catalog with this coin for sale. If I had enough money to sue them, I'd be on it. Someone order a few and you'll own a big company as the dust settles? I just thought you all might like to see what we're missing. H

2009 W SILVER EAGLES?

Could this be the reason? Hello everyone! I was just looking at a few world coins and here's whats for sale in Italy. Only 10,000 minted, so we may have a chance to get a handfull for the W collectors. I didn't check the Chinese site.   I can only imagine. Have a nice day!

2009 TERRITORIAL QUARTER SET

ALL 12 COINS AND THE PICS TO PROVE IT! Hello everyone! It took some string pulling, but if you want to see them, I have all 12 of the Territorial quarters(with pics). I missed being #1 because I had to wait until I had photo proof. I could have thrown anything in there and obscured it, but I think not! The 1st, 12 coin Territorial set. to be shown in the NGC Registry.......Enjoy all!

2009 REGISTRY AWARDS

I did very well Hello everyone! Just a note of thanks to friends and foes alike. Here's to the people that made my sets what they are. Some won an award......some didn't. I will try to maintain the standards of collecting and improve in 2010. Thanks to Sam,Todd,Don,and Rene for input and support. Dean too....sorry! Thanks to NGC for doing this, and recognizing Society members for their achievements last year. My certificates made me realize how lucky I really am to be a part of this.

2009 PROOF SET DAY!!

Finally! Hi Everyone Well, it's finally that happy day again. More sets to NGC! WOOOOOHOOOOO Pennies, and dollars, and Sacs and..........you name it! Hopefully all my Sacs will come back with a FDOI pedigree? Good luck to everyone that is submitting the flood of new metal into the economy. I wish NGC sold stock! I guess this is the "change" we were promised? My Loons aren't done yet, and the next wave is already there. Hopefully I will get a few 70s to complete my sets. Hopefu
