About this journal

All bullion coins are minted at West Point, NY.  The S mint mark is a scam to make people think they are getting something special, at double, or triple the going price of a real Silver Eagle. In effect, the "S" coin is a phony, and doesn't have a place in the Registry. "Minted at" coins fall into the same category. The label can say anything they want.....even the Sheboygan Mint!

NGC removed the other coins, this one has to go also.

I too laid out hundreds of dollars only to have them erased, such  as the "2000 Millennium" ASE. Another gem that we "had" to have.  They won't pay   those coins we now have to eat.

NGC VS. PCGS ROUND 2,3,4 ???

How long must this go on? Hello all .....again! Fact.....NGC Registry allows PCGS slabbed coins. Fact.....PCGS does not allow NGC slabbed coins. I thought the hobby was considered to be, and hence named, "coin collecting". I've vented on this issue before. I also explained why I have both. I have collected my sets for 2 reasons. I like the coins, and it's an investment. I'm in awe to see a Lincoln cent graded by either entity worth many thousands of dollars. I admire the coin(and t

FLABBERGASTING!

Impressions of images and impressive images. Hello all! WOW! What great response from all corners of this great society. I have heard and spoken to so many people since I joined than I would have ever imagined. This scanner thing is really a door/eye opener. I only tried this new technology to help myself to show off my meager attempt at coin collecting. I guess my pride in ownership and competitive nature have had something to do with this. Just as I thought my new scans were great, I

I almost forgot.

I know my scanner is OK, but.... Is this dime worth anything to anyone? I found it in change, and it is in "fine" shape. It's up for grabs. If it is only a "blue" album coin, I know a small boy that might like it. Thanks

Imaging for beginners.

I was asked a question......I'm a beginner too! Hello everyone! As most of you know, I have not been a member for a long time. I am new at coins. I am also new at trying to convey the closest images of my collection. Digital cameras, digital microscope, lighting hoods, scanners, and alike. They all work and serve a purpose....to a point. Some of you know my dilemma...PCGS slabs. They wouldn't scan on my Lexmark All-in-one. I experimented for months and ruined a lot of eyes with sub-pa

The journal that isn't!

I thought I would, and then I didn't.....then I did Hello everyone! My 1957 proofs are in the mail. Nothing great, but they will look nice with my other set. NGC imaging on these too! I got a 70 in my new Prezzies, but would have been happier with a 69 set. My 2008 set award certificates came. Thank you NGC!!! Everone that sent their coins in ahead of me, are now behind? How did they do that? It's a shame some dealers aren't as above board as they could be. I could have sent my own

HINDENBURG CRASHES IN NEW YORK!

Oh the amenities! Hello everyone! It is with mixed emotions that I bring you this news. My Hindenburg has crashed. Yup..... Not one (1) member thought it was a good idea to get it graded. That really let the hot air out of my balloon. yuk yuk Another learning experience. I do have to thank everyone that contributed to it's demise, but I can use the funds to do something more worthwhile. Another Sacagawea perhaps? NGC quality control must be swamped. After all, I did send in my

I NEED SOME ADVICE TOO!

Is this worth it? Hello everyone. I came across this older coin and wondering if it is worth grading? It appears to be mostly silver. It is German, a 1938 2 mark coin. It appears to be in great condition, and is edge incused also. The reverse displays a swastika, which, I assume, means it was during the Nazi era. Hindenburg was known throughout the world. I liked the strike and design. It is not clean, but decent. Is it a candidate for NCS? As apart of history, I want to save it, and e

THE EYES HAVE IT!!!

Do yours feel any better today? Hi everyone! Gee it's later than I thought. I have made a concerted effort to ease the eye strain of those that choose to check out my collection from time to time. Never once did I intend to distort your vision so my coins looked good. For those of you I have subjected to the less than adequate coin images, there is great news. My NEW scanner arrived late this morning. I toyed and tested for an hour or so. I had papamesa(new member) doing a critiqu

ADVICE ON CROSSING OVER?

Oh please send mine in? Hello everyone! I read the previous journal, and almost fell off my chair. Anyone that sends in a set of PF70s and they cross to PF 70s, please send a set of my Sacs to PCGS. If I were so lucky to get all 10 perfectly crossed, I could buy a UHR and keep in in my pocket. I guess I'm happy with what I have. I am lousy with advice anyway. Happy collecting.

HO HUMMMM!

What a day for a daydream! Hello all! It's late, and it was an uneventful day. I got my old scanner/printer to scan to a disc. I finally put images for my Prezzies sets(2). My new scanner isn't here yet (UPS). I got a new PF 70, 2000 Sac, for my last 10 coin Sac set. This is the one with the"First Year Of Issue" pedigree that doesn't get a slot! The 2009 "Native American" dollar fits in though? I stole the scan from the seller. WOW! My greatest image so far. Everything at NGC is in qu

Outa sight--Outa mind

A missing journal? Hi everyone! I had a journal posted, but I guess it got censored. It is gone!!! In short. My scanner died. My 1957 and 2009 proofs are further along. No word on my Abes I started another "W"eird quarter set. I had to shovel snow and......Oh yeah. I bought a new scanner. Your eyes will thank me for it! Happy collecting!

NGC/PCGS ? IT'S ALL SIMPLE MATH !

Plus and minus.....that's math.....isn't it? Greetings to all you "coin" collecting people! Well, I'll add some more fuel to the fire. Today I listed a PCGS set of the 2009 Territorial Quarters with "flags". A plus. I already have an NGC set without them. NGC doesn't do flags. A minus. I have a set of "W" designations on my 1999-2001 NGC quarter slabs. A plus. PCGS doesn't do "W"s. A minus. I am sure glad that NGC allows me to have(and show)both sets without hassle. A definite plu

NGC vs PCGS ?

You may not like this......but Hello all! I am one of those that started out with nothing but NGC coins. My Silver Eagle set was (and is) all NGC. In 2000 I bought a MS69 Eagle in PCGS. I didn't like it. SOLD IT!!! I recently did the same thing with a bunch of 2009 Eagles in both MS 69 and MS 70. All my NGC coins are Early Releases. My PCGS is "First Strike" MS 70. Now comes my honest opinion. I have an NGC 69 that should be a 70. I have 3 69s that should be 69. The last 3 might b

2009 PREZZIES!

Census or senses report? Hello everyone! A short note about my yearly insanity. I was fortunate enough to enter my Presidential Dollar sets into the Registry in PF 70 UC for 2007 and 2008. As most know that this will put the owner in a #1 set ranking. I have done a bunch of searching through my few resources, and find 2009 may be tough on the PF 70 collectors. The last I heard, about 15% of the (4 coin)sets submitted came back in complete PF 70 (4 coin) sets. If this holds true,

ANOTHER MINI MILESTONE "W"o"W"

The set I never thought was possible........it's complete! Hello to everyone! The mail lady brought me good news today. There was a "new" New Hampshire, and Virginia, silver "W" coin. To fill the 1999 silver slots, I had to cannabalize another set, but such is the sacrifice. I have achieved another mini goal. As some of you may remember, it all started with me finding the first and wondering what the "W" meant. According to NGC, not anything anymore. I find them unique, and now I h

hey buddy....ya gotta buck?

You have to be kidding......I should have known! Hello everybody! I have been trying to stay away from here for a bit......but. I need a few bucks...Sacagawea(Native American) just went into 2009. About 16 of them will do it. The Prezzies are having a hard time making PF 70. Thank goodness I only need 4 .....but I also need a few PF 69 sets......whew! I did send a 1957 proof set in with my next to last Prezzie set. I went whole hog on this one too guys! Photo imaging and all. M

IT LASTED FOR A DAY

It was fun for awhile. Hi everyone! My goal of being ranked 500 lasted almost a full 24 hours. I suppose being somewhat responsible for a few new members(some freebies, some not)led to my demise. I woke up this morning at 505.....hmmmmmm? My NC PF 70 was accepted this afternoon, but it only got me up to 502. A new member bought a set of my Sacs. He now owns the next 10 coin Sac set to be registered. There goes my world domination. Competition is good! Isn't it? I will lose the

TODAY IS THE DAY.......FINALLY!

This bubble is subject to bursting at any moment! Hello all! I eventually found the Territories I misplaced. I added them to the slots, and BAM!!! The elusive 500 has been reached. Is this the pinnacle? The acme of my collecting? No, just a plateau. I have more to do. I have, however, reached the goal I set when I joined the Registry. The"fortunate" 500! Thanks to friends and members! Actually, I never expected this so quickly. The economy has me worried about continuing at

Another plea to NGC?

I'd like the 10th slot please! Hello all.....again! Todd has a point. I asked for some recognition with my set/s also. Let's see. There is an ASE in 2008 graded as a MS70. Another 2008 W for the MS 70 slot. Alas, let us not forget the"ERROR". The 2008 with the 2007 reverse in MS 70. Ya gotta have it! No set is complete without it. It is a prominent error. But it is just that.....an error. NGC labeled the 2000 Sacagawea with the standard brown/gold label, and the green "First Year Of

KNOCKING ON THE 500 DOOR ?

I almost made it today.......but Hello all! Well, I got a shock today.....again. I just acquired the NH "W" silver quarter I need for my "weird" set. I got the coin listed. I uploaded the photo and description. I hit the "SAVE" button and sat back and waited for the usual process. My description and photo made it! Success right?.............Not!!! NGC says the coin is a PF 69. Now I am confused. My last post had a problem with NH too! Am I jinxed? I am almost afraid of g

Whooooooopeeee!

I got mine! WOW x 2! Lucky enough to get the new Abe. These (2) will definitely find there way to NGC. Good luck to everyone that submits theirs for grading too! This is the first time I have actually purchased a coin on the first day of issue. What's the next one? The mail lady loves me!!

ENCROACHMENT!

1st and goal on the 13. Hello all! Just a short note today. I upgraded a few quarters, and am in the "Red Zone" now. 13 more spots and I will have reached this year's goal. A member of the 500 club? I have been holding an ace, and thanks to a few members, I may not have to play it yet. Thanks to all of you for helping. Thanks for the support and guidance from others. MATHMATICAL ERROR!

I thought my figures were close.......NOT!!! Hello again all! I just checked the PCGS price list for a Sacagawea proof 70 set(9 coin). Yup, only $5,825.00 for a nine coin set. My 10 coin sets in PCGS would be $7,975.00. I can see everyone jumping ship now. Just think of it this way. A 2000 Sac is worth more in PCGS than my entire, 10 coin, NGC PF 70 set. Amazing? A lot of people ask me why I have so many Sac sets. Now you know.
