Friends,

 As of first ---- 15 years ago or so we had a FRIENDS list available on our member home page.  A few years ago the FRIENDS were changed to FOLLOWERS by the NGC group. 

 Now there is not even a followers list on our home page.  Is this Followers list coming back?? Seems the club is moving more and more towards unsocial practices.

Use to be a member could post their journal from their private member page. Now they have to go to Chat Boards to do so. I don't mind it but I know that many members do not use the chat boards. Will there be a link later to post journals from the member page?

NEW Part Time JOB!!

Some jobs are FUN!! Friends, I recently took the Gold store owner up on a great and fun job offer. The job is running through all the coins that go through the store and finding the best for higher sales and selecting the batches for e-bay bidders. The first week was a major search of 150 rolls of wheat pennies for the 1909S VDB, 2- 1955 poor mans DDO and other dates with double mint marks that I found. Grabbed 115 rolls of Wheats

This will take a while!!! Friends, I was sitting around and a guy that does quite a few coins tells me he has 115 rolls of wheats in the trunk of his car. I'm thinking yeah not worth too much and then he says 1.75 a roll. !! that would keep me busy and off of e-bay so I got em. I will be looking for varieties for a while. Finals on the clad dime submission

O-K NGC ------ now I do feel like chopped liver!! Thank YouFriends, well not really sure of what the deal is after two submissions in a row showing excellence and getting the lower bar code thrown at me. I guess overall O-K but there are just more MS66 FTs in the pot than I imagined. Only ONE---68 and TEN---67s. A lesson on stars

My latest submission Friends, On my latest submission I sent in a dime I just knew would garner a star but somehow missed the shot. I did a little research on the whole star attribute and learned a little this weekend on submitting toned coins. A coin can be wonderfully toned "BUT" if it has a small dark brown area turning or going black it will not receive the star. I am still pleased with the MS67 grade on a 1949 coin that I got for almost nothing. I thought to pass on the toning tips and

A nice" WALK"

A great trade this week landed a sweet Walker!!! Friends I set aside a day for a 150 mile each way trip for a trade of Franklins for Walkers. I have wanted a nice Walker for my Type set for years and finally have a piece entered. An exceptionally well strike at a MS66* and a beauty to behold in tones. Different holder shot

The 1949-D MS64 Here is a shot I took after removing from the old mint set that shows a better view of the edges. Maybe a trip to NCS to get the duller toning off would improve the grade. I did see a small nick on thee obverse but never really studied these dimes close as they simply went in for their beauty not the grade so I am happy overall!! 1949 Mint Set

NGC blew me out of the water on 1 coin Friends, The grades were just as I thought on most. The 5c got a nice grade of MS66 The no mint mark 10c got a grade of MS66 The S mint mint mark 10c got a grade of MS67 The 1949-D dime that I thought would be a keeper was the only bad choice as it came back MS64??? I must have really missed something. Over-All not a bad investment on grading and I sure hope the Roosevelt submission does a little better. I leave you with a pic of the dime tha

UNGRADED MINT SETS

Making More Room

Trades,Trades and more Trades Friends, As I usually get a box of mint sets, proof and circulated coinage from the Cash for Silver and Gold store the pile was getting pretty high. RAW ROOSEVELT

A pic before the trip in for grading. Friends, I did mention that I was doing a small submission this month. I have chosen the MS Roosevelt dimes for this shipment. I also finally filled out a submission for my 5 free graders which I used the 1949 toned mint set ( except for the quarter I sold to Jason). A Full Step I have set aside.

I wasn't too sure on this one Friends, I have a 1949 nickle that was pretty sharp in fact the steps even have a nice view to them. There are so many coins that I want to send in that I simply bypassed it. After reading Jim's journal I went and cropped the old pic. This is a 1949-D and probably a MS67 to boot. Time to "change" up a bit

"More Change" is the answer!!! Friends, I have been working on a few deals to acquire top grade dimes, nickles, and pennies. I got with a few dealers and found one for Lincoln cents but got the strangest e-mail today from him. He was offering me German Notgeld Notes (paper emergency money - 1920s). A far cry from Lincolns and I don't know what I would do with 8000 pristine German notes. However he did tell me he had 50 bags of Lincolns that he would bring up to me in November. So until then

RE: REGISTRY POPULATION

To answer a question from Meatglazier I find 7227 different members. However some of those are deceased and others are on to other hobbies and no longer around. Some members have 2 pages and most dealers have no competition points (they are also considered members in my book). I would guestimate that there is 3500 actual members. Give or take 1000 or more. Premier Silver

Silver is down and sets are still showing up. Friends, I made a run to the silver and gold store today to grab some coins. I ended up leaving with a few coins and a group of premier silver proof sets 1992 to 1998. I have checked the regular proof sets out before and these sets seem to be better high end picks on all the coins. A little Eye Candy

Nothing graded but maybe later on. Friends. I went to the shop to see what I could grab up this time. I got a bag full of mint sets that were liquidated for expenses. One set was very special as it is a triple mint set from 1949 - P,D,&S. The set was contained in a old cardboard page made for a notebook back in the 50s or 60s. A Modern Proof Kennedy and CORN!!!

And you ask yourself where does the corn fit in??? Hey Guys, I got up this morning like always doing the regular chores before work---but after C.S. and a couple cups of coffee. 2 1/4s = 1/2 Friends, It is late in the day and the sun is down but I still managed to pull off a pic. Here is a set of twin reverse I/4 oz classic eagles that a friend wanted me to pick up at 10% over spot for him. The dates are 1894 and 1900. When Cash Is Tight

There is always room for a trade Friends, I noticed in a earlier post from Yankeejose that he was building a raw Morgan set. Since I have around 20 raw I sent some pics of the ones he was interested in. He chose one a 1898-S and did a trade of two NGC graded MS66 pennies for the Morgan.
