About this journal

Friends,

As of first ---- 15 years ago or so we had a FRIENDS list available on our member home page.  A few years ago the FRIENDS were changed to FOLLOWERS by the NGC group.

Now there is not even a followers list on our home page.  Is this Followers list coming back?? Seems the club is moving more and more towards unsocial practices.

Use to be a member could post their journal from their private member page. Now they have to go to Chat Boards to do so. I don't mind it but I know that many members do not use the chat boards. Will there be a link later to post journals from the member page?

A nice Roosevelt

May end up bringing a Full Torch designation home Friends, Last weekend I did a journal on a couple toners that looked swell. I am going to send the dimes from the set = P,D,S. Here is a pic of the reverse of the 1949-D and I hope this submission comes through well. Thanks----Rick To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

HEY Kamakazy!!!

Your timing will be about perfect. B A, AND of course--- ALL FRIENDS, I am glad you have finally got some sort of answer out of NGC on those coins. It seems they are very busy these days but can't afford extra help. I hope your grades come back great and can't wait to see what your points will do. I am sending off my last payment on TPETERS Silver Eagle Proof set =15,000 points (WOW). Been busy cleaning house "my site page". I put up allot of 69 Coms., eagles, presidents and more. I have ma

Time to "change" up a bit

"More Change" is the answer!!! Friends, I have been working on a few deals to acquire top grade dimes, nickles, and pennies. I got with a few dealers and found one for Lincoln cents but got the strangest e-mail today from him. He was offering me German Notgeld Notes (paper emergency money - 1920s). A far cry from Lincolns and I don't know what I would do with 8000 pristine German notes. However he did tell me he had 50 bags of Lincolns that he would bring up to me in November. So until then

Sacs and President Dollars

Why??? I don't really know but that will be the next venture on my list!! Friends,   I have enjoyed so many new coins added to each set this year but with the new submission thoughts I have decided to run with the dollar pieces of the 21'st century. My Sac set is seeming to need the most interest in ranks so I am going to try for a few nice holders. I have also ordered a group of rolls for my State Quarter set that will get that set closer to completion.   Looks like a fun and intere

A Diferent Type of Purchaseing

A weekend drive Friends, As most purchases are made online and we become friends with others on the farther side of the continent there are exceptions. I made a deal on a sweet Modern Commemorative set and the seller was only next door--(state). Of course there are mountains dividing the two states so there is a round-a-bout to get there. Well I think we are going to meet in the center somewhere and have lunch. Imagine that--- actually putting a face on a computerized coin friend. We talk and

A SILVER DIME ADITION

A Beautiful starter set of dimes Friends, My earlier post boasted of some dimes sent to me before purchase. I received the package Monday and added the 10 Blast White with a small hint of toning on a few to the 1 dime I purchased from Bammer. So now I have a small family of sort--1946 to 1964 Roosevelt dimes resting in their NGC Condo Complex. I do believe that if my friend Todd Peters had not decided to go so far this year with his dimes I would still have only one. When a friend starts to up

Variety Dime Hunting

Always on the look out!! Friends, I am starting to obtain a fairly large amount of the Roosevelt dimes. In my pursuits I check the pics of the dimes looking for doubling in hopes that I will find another variety to add trying to make up a 10 coin submission for NGC to grade. The Roosevelt dimes seem to be full of varieties that are not listed on the slabs and obtaining a handful is easy once you load large close ups in your set and check them. Many clad dimes do not have variety attributes lis

Where is the speared Bison???

A busy Saturday ahead. Friends, I ran across a mint bag of $50 Bisons. It will be a long easy search this weekend to find a spear. At $10 extra for the bag it seemed to be a deal and will fill a hole in my Top 100 if I do find one. Chances are around 1 in 5,000,000, right?? Ah what the heck---worth a look for sure. HAPPY COIN COLLECTING!!!   Here is a pic of a non - spiked ----ENJOY To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

January Submission Accepted

State Quarters MS uncirculated stage 2 of 3 Friends, I finally made enough extra cash to send in the second stage of my state quarters. This submission will cover mainly 2005 to 2008 with a few earlier pieces. The first submission (stage 1) covered 1999 to 2004 with 67 coins that filled 29 holes. This submission surprisingly has the same --- 67 coins but will fill 40 holes in the set. I will be sending in the SMS pieces in May or June as I have other sets that need attention and will send i

LOW BUDGET COINS

There is always a way to add a few. Friends, I have wanted a flying eagle cent since I saw one. Lately there are not very many people purchasing coins for sale. Well I mean not very many people wanting to pay the value or close. So the coin purchasing bank is nearly empty as I have done a few trades at FMV that were more acceptable than selling at 30% off (not gonna happen here). I was working today and a old dealer/collector came in and asked me if I wanted a few coins off a couple sheets

1949 Mint Set

NGC blew me out of the water on 1 coin Friends, The grades were just as I thought on most. The 5c got a nice grade of MS66 The no mint mark 10c got a grade of MS66 The S mint mint mark 10c got a grade of MS67 The 1949-D dime that I thought would be a keeper was the only bad choice as it came back MS64??? I must have really missed something. Over-All not a bad investment on grading and I sure hope the Roosevelt submission does a little better. I leave you with a pic of the dime tha

MORE COINS---MORE COINS---MORE COINS---MORE COINS

Time to fill another collection box. Friends, I have a couple sets 100% and a bunch of sets 1% to 10%. Each set has it's own holding box after it reaches 5 coins or more. I have gone out on a limb and grabbed a nest full of Silver Eagle Proofs. All are 69s and 1 70 yep EARLY RELEASE = the special egg. It will be refreshing to add a new box to my stash. Currently own 2 Silver Eagle proofs but will add 16 or more by the end of the month and get these turkeys looking ready for flight. HAPPY

My Heritage Winnings showed up today

Funny how plans to add a top pop can change over the weekend. Friends and Society, I recently informed everyone that a sweet Roosevelt 1981-D MS68FT was on it's way to a new home. At the time I thought my house was the home right??? Well when Todd Peters got home and went through all the e-mails and read up on journals he sent me a message asking me to keep a eye out for another one. WHAT? I replied. With only 10 coins in NGC slabs I would be eligible to play the lottery and win a few bu

SOCIETY CHANGES

WOW I hope we don't change the format after we get use to this one! Society and friends, I threw a couple Peace Dollars together to start a new set last month but didn't check out the new site until today after selling 2 Morgans. I have started a A S E set which I also added a couple spots. Anyway, I decided to add the low-ball coins to my Morgans and all the coins I sold last year "$26,000" worth were available for entry into my set. I sure am hopeful that I caught everything in time, you

A Modern Proof Kennedy and CORN!!!

And you ask yourself where does the corn fit in??? Hey Guys, I got up this morning like always doing the regular chores before work---but after C.S. and a couple cups of coffee. When I passed the garden to go feed the chickens I noticed that the deer had plowed a path through the corn. Well it was ready anyway for pick-in so that was the chore for after work today--- around 4 bushels. But before I headed out to round up the corn I got a few picks of a 2006 PF70UC Kennedy for a friend and no

Modern Coins and spots

Silver Eagles with milk spots "Quick Fix" Friends, We have heard quite a few complaints on coins purchased beautiful but spotted after placed in their safe a few years. Sometimes we don't have the time to pull the coins out and check them and when we do they are spotted. Most blame it on the safe and humidity or whatever. Well the fix for that is NCS for preservation of the coins. Some of the best collections in museums get spotted and are preserved on a regular basis. I found a good rea

Ready to add a few more coins

After reading the replies to Kamakazy's journal I am sure SILVER will be the choice Friends, No posts lately but keeping up with the journals. Been working out of state this month in Ohio. A couple more weeks and a FAT check will be the trick to pay off next months bills and add a few more coins to the old collection. I'm not sure what I realy want---more silver mint set fillers or more coins for my Custom Set. I have a few lines on some silver dimes but could use some more Mocoms. The posts s

LAST DAY OF THE YEAR

A coin addicted view for my New Year's Resolution Friends and Society, Well I do have some bad habits that need some psychotic evaluations and mental readjusting. But that will have to wait until a later time. Going through my sets that I started this year I have collected a little over 10,000 points. Spending a lot of time on auctions that I don't even end up purchasing a coin due to over price bidding. This year I have purchased some nice coins from 25% to 60% of value and having th

A SHORT VACATION

My Presidents had a three day vacation. "I NEED ONE TOO" Friends, As you know I split a LOAD of coins in a purchase with Roy (NEW MEMBER). It was a good deal at great values and we were very pleased with the outcome. On Sunday evening after I cut my grass he called and wanted to meet this week. I called tonight after work and he wants me to have the president set back due to the work involved keeping the set in check =(all FDIs). He was more interested in the SILVER and GOLD of coarse so I

MY PR69 DCAM Sacajawia Dollars are completely up to date

PAID FOR 3 BUT RECEIVED 5 Friends, I recently asked a friend in the society if he had any PR69 DCAM Sacajawea Dollars extra for sale, I needed 5. I got a return e-mail offering me 3 coins at a fair price, so I sent the check.   I had honestly forgotten the purchase with all the other things going on right now. I went up to my office and opened the box and COOL he finished my set for me. This is the first set I have ever had listed at 100%%%%%%. THANKS-NAMVETTE68 for the extra coins.

RE> MODERN COMMEMORATIVES

Thanks for the answers to my latest quest. I did not expect more than 3 or 4 to chime in. I did save a list of all the answers. I was sure to get the San Francisco Mint and the Bald Eagle but with a list of the first coin listed by each answer I will now have 8 different coins to search for making it easier than 2. Thanks to all of you. SIX MILE RICK
