About this journal

World Coin News 12 issues $25.99, Coin World - Weekly News Resourse 52 issues $69.99, Coin World 12 issues $24.99.  Three publications.  I am wondering which is the better of the three to subscribe to.  They all have strengths from what I can get from the few reviews listed for them on Amazon.  As well as some grips for issues delivered on time or at all.  I currently subscribe to Numismatic News for many years and issues delivered is always a problem I think because they are sent via dead last shipping.  I however hate online subscriptions, because after a day on the computer, the last thing I want to do when I sit in my favorite chair in the evening to relax is grab the tablet to read a magazine.  Nothing is better than picking up an actual piece of journalism during a commercial when watching the tube and reading an article.  I can put it down and pick it up again at the next commercial.  Any who, thoughts on the three publications would be appreciated.  As always, thanks.  PS  Anyone have the PF and MS70 of the Boys Town in brown label for sale?

MAYBE A NEW CENT FIND

A NEW WIDE AM? This is a reverse of a 2004D Lincoln cent. Looks like a wide AM. I say 2004D because the strike on the obverse is very weak and I can barely make out the D with a 20X glass. Thoughts please. I have another one for tomorrow a 1983D 1/4. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

Strung along

Taken advantage of. Well, I am still waiting for the 3 Silver Eagles I was promised over 3 weeks ago. Now I find out they never had them, even though the salesman said he "went in the back to physically check" that they were there. Well now they never had any. But they say they have 2 of the 3 coming, check back on Friday. This is what happens when you live in a rural ag state, small towns and no source for coins other than Ebay and the internet. You get strung along and along and along.

IT ISN'T FANCY

WHAT WOULD YOU CALL THIS? I have shown this cent before. Still, I like looking at it every now and then. Still trying to figure out just what happened to it and if it deserves a better look by NGC. Give me your thoughts everyone. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

Need help/advise

2011 Silver Eagles I have some silver eagles in pcgs in both ms69 and 70. Also they are represented by each of the mints. They all have milk spots to varying degree. None of my NGC coins have this and they also are from different mints. Plus, I guess this is why I have been collecting NGC. The quality of the PCGS is terrible. One ms70 has scratches around it like pennies have when the first one comes out of a roll from the rolling machine. Also some have nicks and scratches. So why the

BIG RISK????

TAKING THE PLUNGE TOGETHER. Well, my fellow members I took the chance that I hope will pan out. My wife and I decided to go all in and order the Reverse Proof Buffalo. I said we could cancel between now and shipping time or return it when we get it if not pleased. This is a very big step for us, as we are getting up in life and retirement is upon us, so not sure if this will pay off in the next few yrs. What do you think Members? Was it wise or stupid, I know wise if we come out ahead an

FOLLOW-UP ON MAIL BOX ALARM

INSTALLED AND TESTED Well I got my alarm in the "MAIL" a few days ago and it took less than 10 minutes from package opening to install and try out. This thing really works. I did a lot of studying on it before I ordered it and what was nice about this model is it has a built in volume control, which is great. It also has a red light on it and it is real bright. One touch of the reset button after you get your mail and it's ready to go again. If anyone is interested in it I bought this

consecutive order? Hey everyone, I was going through some of my slabs to possibly put them up for sale and simply stumbled onto something that I feel the odds are uncalculatable. I pick out an Eagle coin, MS70 NGC. set it aside and was hehawing through some others that were of different grade, but NGC non the less. Well get this fellow members now remember, I bought these two coins about 6 months apart, and from 2 different companies and from two different parts of the country. One is a

Holder Labels

How many I collect holders that have different labels in them. This yr, 2011 Silver Eagles MS69 has 18 holders with different labels counting the Burnished that just shortly came out. Yes there are browns, flags, Early Releases, etc, but I consider each label as it pertains to a certain coin. So that is why I count the Burnished also, even tho it has the same five labels that were previously awarded, well almost. You see there are different mints that produced Eagles, different mint marks

OOOOOOOMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE DUMMY HAS LEARNED Just got back from the bank to check my stuff. Shock is an understatement. I had used rubberbands to hold my stuff and lo an behold, I have to report horrible news. My silver ingots, some of which I had put in there less than a few months ago, TARNISHED!!! This is even tho they are "sealed" in the whatever they are sealed in when you get them from the BIG DEALERS. Some slabs, both gold and silver, also. I am sick. Guess you live and learn. just called 3 more coming.

Don't believe it I had been called to let me know that the 3 silver eagle holders I had been waiting for were on their way. I had even sent photos of the 3 I was in need of. Now this is a very reputable coin supplier, I guess you know the rest of the story. They came today and yep you are right, they all were WRONG!!!! What the H-E- double toothpicks does it take to get what you ordered, especially when you send them pics and they said they had them on hand? HELP!!!!!! I am bonkers over

I AM TICKLED

KENNEDY'S ON WAY HOME Hi everyone. I sent in two of the Kennedy silver 4 coin sets, and this afternoon I checked my invoice and they are done. Much to my surprise The one rev pf and one pf got a 69 and the two unc, which I thought would be a 69 each got a 70. So I am ticked. I have a complete set of 70s out of the 2 sets. I also sent in just for the heck of it 3 each of the clad 2 coin sets. One was a 68, 3-66, 1-67, and 1-65. I am happy though. I consider this a success. If I can, I

THANKS!!!!

IT IS WHAT IT IS. Thanks to everyone who wrote or replied to my last posting. YES! I do buy the coin for my other collections that are and some that are not slabbed. As far as the 25th Anniversary goes, I felt it would be neat to try and get all the labels and mint marks. I thought the 2011 ASE was a good time for collecting, and I made it fun as well as expensive. When I was a kid I collected baseball cards, marbles, pop bottle caps. I guess that I am guilty here also for not collecting

STORAGE QUESTION

WHAT KIND IS BEST? Thanks to everyone that responded on my question involving slabs. Now I don't know which way to go. I did have them all at the house but feared summertime storms, I.E. tornadoes, floods, which both are very common where I live. Also we have had an increasing amount of home invasions, so theft is a concern, and there really is no place in my home for real safe storage. I still have more to move. I have a small safe, and put some important documents in there with silica p

Would like to share this

Fellow members and 5 star General silver dollars I just completed a deal with a fellow member. The experience was great. He was very patient with me as I was having a little difficulty getting funds lined up. After everything was said and done, the coins are on their way, he sent me serial #s and pics so I can put them in my registry now. That is great As far as the 5 star Generals are concerned both my PF70 and MS70 ar not what I call perfect. On the unc there is a reeded edge scratch

AND THEY'RE OFF!!!!

Sent em in, how will I stack up? Well I did it, Sent in my Reverse proof Buffalo, 2013 W ASE set, and a 2012 S ASE set for grading. I bought some grading books and studied via NGC, and other sites. Looked at each coin daily many times, and concentrated on a different part of the coin each time. I also used more than one different magnification each time so as to get a different aspect of each coin. Also under different lighting. So, in my extreme ignorance on judging grades, here are my

MINTAGES, MINTAGES, ARE DIFFERENT.. Hi, and a New Year to you all. I am in need of some assistance everyone. I was looking up the mintage total for a certain coin the other day in the 2013 U.S. Coin Digest. The by chance saw a web page called Moderncommemoratives.com. The mintages in both sources are different for this coin, unc and proof. Looked at more from both, and the same thing. They both have different totals for mintages. So who do I go by? Is there a more authorative source?

2013 W West Point Silver Eagle sets

ARE THEY REAL OR A FANTASY? As I wrote the other day about the set for me to be shipped on 30 sept. 2013, and the big sellers promising my PF/SP 70 slabs to be shipped mid June. I wondered how they could do it. Now many of us has had emails about shipping delays etc. I wonder if the whole thing is, is that they are probably having oodles of difficulties minting the enhanced coin. Perhaps they won't even get them minted at all, and all we will receive is the RP. I wonder just for talking

2013 W Enhanced Silver Eagle When I need good info or help and suggestions I come here to my members site. I know that someone will have the answere to this. Are there three different versions of the 2013 W West Point Silver enhanced Eagle that is being released? I read it in one of a magazines letters sections. I don't know about it anyway. This should bring up good discussions. I ordered one set, and it is suppose to ship 30 Sept 2013. Don't know how the big dealers and online
