About this journal

World Coin News 12 issues $25.99, Coin World - Weekly News Resourse 52 issues $69.99, Coin World 12 issues $24.99.  Three publications.  I am wondering which is the better of the three to subscribe to.  They all have strengths from what I can get from the few reviews listed for them on Amazon.  As well as some grips for issues delivered on time or at all.  I currently subscribe to Numismatic News for many years and issues delivered is always a problem I think because they are sent via dead last shipping.  I however hate online subscriptions, because after a day on the computer, the last thing I want to do when I sit in my favorite chair in the evening to relax is grab the tablet to read a magazine.  Nothing is better than picking up an actual piece of journalism during a commercial when watching the tube and reading an article.  I can put it down and pick it up again at the next commercial.  Any who, thoughts on the three publications would be appreciated.  As always, thanks.  PS  Anyone have the PF and MS70 of the Boys Town in brown label for sale?

ADVICE PLEASE

SAFE HOLDER STORAGE PRODUCTS Does anyone have knowledge or experience with Intercept Shield or Coinarmour products? I have a few of the Intercept Shield baseball card boxes, mainly because the slab boxes are no more, and they work great for the slabs. I am looking at Coinarmour, anyone know about them experience wise? Or are there other products out there that I am missing looking at? To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. WHEN IS A SET A SET?

2013W SILVER EAGLE SET #s WAY OFF. Well that is a good question. When is a set a set? To me when a set is put forth such as the 2012 and 2013 and even the 2011 ASE sets by the mint, and they are sold by one of the large sellers, and they are purchased by a long time customer, you would think that they would send a pair that is reasonably close in numbers. So help me out here folks, am I wish full thinking or what? All my other sets are real good in matching up the numbers. I guess I feel

THE BUFFALO HAS ARRIVED

NOT THE BEST PIC. Well it came yesterday, and I apologize for the crappy pic. It is the best I can do. When I opened the shipping box, you could smell the leather aroma and my anticipation and excitement went off the charts. It came in a absolutely gorgeous brown wood box, with leather, dollhouse type fabric inside. Upon opening the box, I was floored by the beauty of the coin. Stunning is a better word, again I wish I had a better camera. My photo just doesn't show the awesomeness of i

THE PERFECT SET!!!!!

1 thru 5 brown Standard label Well here it is, what many of you have been asking for. Picture of my recent aquisition. A 2011 25th ANNIVERSARY 5 COIN SET. This is the perfect set as you can see by the serial #s. Plus it is the only known one in existance with the Standard Brown NGC Label. I got it from my friend, and yes I do have permission to post and tell about it. I put the three MS70 slabs in my custom sets, so you can see how may different ones were made for 2011. Lincoln cent find???

What have I got? I found this interesting 1992D cent while looking for the "close AM'. Looks like a DDO on the 1992D. Any thoughts out there? Plus I may have another interesting on I'll put up next. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

NO SURPRISES HERE!

NGC Members are friends Back at the end of February, a fellow member had decided to sell off and reduce his collection. I knew that he had a rare set he aquired that I was very interested in. I contacted him and we agreed on a price and to make it short, he decide not to sell off, but if he did the set was mine. Well a couple of weeks ago I got an email asking if I still wanted the set as he was definitly calling it quits. Of course I said I still wanted it, and we made the purchase arran

Love this label

God bless America Just added another Silver Eagle MS70 to my custom collection. I thinks it is the nicest label of all the holders. Ok Ok I give. It is a 2011 SAE MS70 Struck at San Francisco Mint with the Flag Label. Actually it is a label everyone is probably familiar with. I am still waiting to get the three I was supposed to get over a month ago. Fustrating as it is I am thrilled to add this one, till they come out with another before the end of the year. I also will not stop until

SOLICITING YOUR ADVICE AGAIN!!!

2013 Reverse Proof Buffalo Ok, I have been wondering about the reverse proof Buffalo. It has a restricted ordering time and all, but do the big authorized purchasers get them first again, and at a discounted price as well? I am looking at getting one being first year of issue and all. What would be best, buy from the Mint? Buy from the after market now or later? Buy one already certified now or later? I guess I just am not experienced enough about gold buffaloes. I can take a hit on

FOR REAL?

CHANNEL SURFING. Last night, nothing on the tube so started flipping channels. WOW, I was shocked!!! A coin show on a shop at home channel. He had Lincoln cents of 2009, and a roll of wheats and a 1909 VDB. He went on and on and said the wheat roll was a $50 value the 1909VDB a $50 value, and the 2009 was I think, $399, down from $499. WHAT??? I have many 1909VDB cents that are in a whole lot better condition than his, and rolls of wheats I wish I could get $50, And I have Boxes of 20

Latest find

Stumbled accross it. Well, here is another to add to my MS70 custom sets. This is in addition to the previous two brown ones. I have stumbled onto so exciting things lately. Has anyone gotten some of those double-dye fat numbered Silver Eagles from the 25th Anniversary set? They are really different. I wonder if they will classify them as a true error coin? Here is a pic of my latest. No need for you S to reply, I know enough of how you feel about me. To see old comments for this J

SO MUCH FOR MY GUESSES.

5 COINS ON WAY HOME Well my coins are graded and on the way here. My Reverse Gold Buffalo wasn't a 70 and both Reverse proof Eagles were 70, the SP, a 69 by the way, I returned a SP70 to a dealer I bought it from because of a gouge in it, so how is mine a 69? The 2012 Proof eagle from the San Fran set is also a 69. I felt they would all be 70s except for the 2012 S reverse proof, because it had like bag marks on the obverse and reverse. And here it comes in at a 70, go figure, I took go

ADVICE ABOUT SAFES

Broke down and got a safe Well the bank fees for safe deposit boxes have been too much. Got a fire safe. Stack-on is the brand. Got the rechargeable de-humidifyer and light. Question is this. Does the carpet in the safe, dehumidifyer and lights have PVC's or anything like that? I know I should have done better home work on it but my research skills are very minimal. Plus it's too late now. It is bolted to the floor and installed. Just need to get to the bank and empty out the vault. F

AT LAST!!!!

It took over a year. I have finally done it. I have captured the elusive 2011 Silver Eagle in the Standard Brown label. I have been told that this label was a mistake because they were wanting the 25th Anniversary brown labels instead, and these got out into circulation. One dealer told me about 8 months ago that he got some and was given the chance to return them or keep them. He kept his and I had one on order through him and suddenly they were sold out. This now brings my collection to

STORAGE QUESTION

CONTAMINATION? Question to all the long time members about storing slabs. I have many slabs in safe deposit boxes, and this particular place does not climate control there safe deposit area. None of the others in town do either. This is the question, I usually have 4 to 5 slabs held together with a rubberband. Will the rubberband damage the slab or the coin through disinegration or release of gases either on the coin or the holder? I look forward to feedback, oh! almost forgot, this is o

Additions

last ones? Well I have added five holders to my ms69 and ms70 collection. And yes for my beloved critic, whom I am sure will make a remark, I stated which one is my favorite label. Being a disabled veteran, I sincerely love my flag and everything about it, so comment away my good and spirited one. I also think that this is probably that last aditions I have, unless I am lucky enough to get a 25th anniversary holder from the 5 coin set. It looks like the scalpers have the market, but maybe

NEW TO MY INSANE COLLECTION

I DONT'T THINK IT WILL STOP. Just thought I would post my latest to my collection and to share it with you all here today. I am coming off a terrible couple of weeks, my brother died and his services were Friday. I say this, because he was a highly decorated Vietnam veteran, and myself being a disabled Vietnam era veteran, I pay some homage to him to let everyone know, I am and always be very proud of him. Perfect?

In who's eye? Here is a pic of my latest aquisition. MS69 W Silver Eagle. I have looked this coin over and over with a 10x glass, and can find no faults. Used diffferent light, angles and such. It seems all my MS69 W burnished Eagles are totally problem free. Am I lucky, is it the burnished blank that doesn't let small imperfections show? I don't know. Perhaps some of you more experienced members can help. I have MS70s not burnished that should be 69s or even 68s. I know grading is a

I must say thanks to a few members and a few dealers who helped us get here. THANK YOU, you know who you are, and I know they did not want to share their names, and I respect that. BEEN AWHILE..

MINT AND IT'S DELIVERIES?? Hi, Today my 2014 D Sacagawea enhanced dollars are due to arrive. It has been over 2 months since I placed my order for them. This is contrast to the US Marshalls silver dollar that I ordered on Thursday at the opening. My receipt was printed at :02 after the hour. On Friday they said they were shipped and I received them on this past Monday. Had all the paperwork and box for shipping ready, mailed them and NGC got them on Wednesday. NEED HELP AGAIN

ERROR COIN? I was going through my cents again and came accross this 1975 D Lincoln. It appears to have 3 cracks in the obverse the most prominent accross the scalp line the second accross the bridge of the nose the third just nearly accross the middle of the chin. They all appear to start at the top right at theouter lip of the coin going down and to the left. The top one almost makes it accross the coin, the other two alittle less so with each one. The reverse does not show any of this,

HAVE YOU EVER?

NAUGHTY OR NICE! Has anyone ever bought a MS70 or PF70 "slabbed" coin from one of the other two not so popular grading services, because you got it really cheap, and broken it out of its holder and sent it to NGC in the hopes of getting a MS or PF 70 out of it? Will anyone ever admit to doing that? I wonder. I just thought I would put it out there for conversation. Have a great one everybody, and thanks for listening. NEED HELP AGAIN

VIEW THESE COINS Hi, just bought these coins today. They are awfully soiled, it even comes off on your hands. The Peace dollar with the "X" on it is scotch tape, it is a very nice coin if I can get the tape residue off, plus on the other side is mold like spots. The Morgans are just grimmy, and like I said it comes off in your hands. How can I spruce them up abit? The one Morgan and one Peace are very nice, in fact the one Morgan still has the sheen/luster of a uncirculated coin, and al
