message boards coming soon!!
Jackson,
You do know that you can send in more than 25 slots per entry right? Oh yeah they will keep the page growing for you to keep filling out those slots now. Ha Ha!! I plan on getting back in the dimes in June. Taking a few months off submitting and just selling for a while.
On the pic you took I really liked it. It takes some sun to get through many toned copper coins. If the pic does not look the way you want in the sunlight wait till a partial clou
WOWSERS
CBC,
As the Peace 34-S slab says MS63 I am totally in awe of the great looks of that obverse. The reverse must be a mess to average out at 63.
Thanks for the pic and time will get you that SWEET 34-S for sure.
I had to search for something to show off. Been ATS lately hanging out with a 16 year kid that loves dimes. I think the next year is going to render toward the silver dimes and clads for me.
Enjoy building your sets all!!!
Maybe this will "liven things up" a little....
OK Rick, I'll add a pic of my latest addition, a NGC MS-63 1935-S Peace dollar. Not a huge rarity or even a vety good photo, but the next to last slot to fill in my Peace set. The 1934-S will just have to wait because my first grandchild is due in a couple of weeks and our spending money seems to be going for baby clothes, toys, strollers, books....... it's all good.
Dena says we have some changes coming in the Journal area. I'm hoping that m
1933 British Crown
Here is an example of a 1933 British crown, recently purchased.
I hope the improved functionality dena talks about includes the ability to respond to posts, and that it happens soon.
Was this done to damped the dissatisfaction with NGCs recent changes?
It occurs to me that one reason that the "comments" option was removed was to dampen/minimize the voice of those of us who are unhappy with the changes that NGC has made recently. Most significantly the decision to no longer allow PCGS coins on the NGC registry. This was obviously a business decision made at the top level of NGC. Presumably the thought is that people will start crossing
We look forward to announcing details on a new and improved journals function with the ability to comment/chat soon.
Please contact Dena Skeffington at dena@ngccoin.com or Matt Gens at mgens@ngccoin.com if you are using the new chat boards and have any questions.
This is a headache.
This new format for the Journals is a headache. I am not sure on why the Collectors Society / NGC are not listening and return the ability to comment on postings. One of the nice things that this page had was the ability to communicate with other collectors. That is gone by the "improvements" made to the page. Ghastly.
1881 halfcrown
Here is an 1881 haalfcrown, just crossgraded from PCGS as an MS 65.
According to some stuff Ive read, this type of halfcrown is not as well struck or well produced as those made earlier in the reign, but this one came out decently. Here is the reverse to the piece.
Filling holes in classic US sets is a tough registry task.
I suspected that the change in policy by NGC to not allow PCGS coins would make registry participation harder. I primarily collect classic US coins and was just finishing up an SLQ one-per-date set and an 1890-1909 Indian Head Cent Set.
With just a few holes left in each of these sets, it seemed relatively certain that I would fill these shortly and could start thinking about which series I'd like to pursue next. Most often I have to

Labeling Coins Incorrectly
I received a e-mail from NGC about a recent inquiry about the 2017 Britannia. I wanted to know if I could send a coin that was labeled "Britannia" and have it relabeled "Britannia Radial Sunburst". The response I received was that Yes I could. Further in the e-mail they stated that they are no longer labeling the plain field Britannia's with the term "Plain Fields". In my opinion, the coin is different from the regular Britannia issue and should be labeled as "P
Several things
I read with interest Electric Peaks journal on the absence of activity in this forum.
The chat room forum doesnt work well at least for world coins as it does not properly sort either by topic or by date of last entry.
And this forum, at least for now, no longer gives anyone the capacity to reply to it.
Which to me is ridiculous. YOu would think that NGC would want to promote discussion and interest, not suppress it. I understood the website was going to restore the reply
In response to a request...
I received a PM from a reader asking for details of my coin photography setup. I figured I might as well answer for everyone to see. (See photo below)

I'm finally getting some time to do this.
It seems to me that people participate in the registry for a number of different reasons. For me, it is a place to catalog my collection (although the recent policy change regarding PCGS certified coins changes that a bit), to share it with other participants, to see what the rest of you are doing, and to learn something about coins in general since I do not have the time to study them all.
Part of the cataloging and sharing is providing photographs
Where did all the new coin pics go?
Friends,
O-K so we went through some dramatic changes in the club. We still purchase coins no matter, so where are all the new additions? It's time for everybody to get back to collecting coins around here.
The day started off good with work and my wife and grown kids were going to a movie ( The Shack ) and lunch. Well it all blew up somewhere when someone was worried about me and my will.
That must have been one heck of a movie!! It tore the whole
Britain George IV Halfcrown
Here is a piece currently in for crossgrading from PCGS. I would like to get grading opinions... if I could, since replies are blocked right now.
I said WHAT??
Ok the new chat is supposedly up. I still can't find anything. I guess this is for literate folks. I do not know what a thread is, breadcrumbs, post, and all this other crapolla. Thread is in my wife's sewing room, breadcrumbs are, you guessed it, in the bread box by the fridge. How about truely making it simple. I am a no haired senior. No one to help with this computer stuff. The younger folks don't have time or patience to show us things, and these site managers just t

Just returned from NGC, an MS 61 1738 two guineas.
Will show the reverse here.
I will chime in here and hope that the functionality of the journals is restored soon. I dont find the chat boards useful for world coins as the sort options leave quite a bit to be desired.
there should be an option to sort by the most recent post, which seems common sense to me (but maybe I didnt see it), as well as for world coins, to sort by country.
26 other coins were returned with the
