The Lincoln cent began its mintage in 1909 and began the process of changing the way Americans made coins. It is the first cent to have "In God We Trust" and it was the first circulating United States coin to feature a former United States president. This is the first coin in the history of the united states to be minted for 100 consecutive years.
When I was a little kid the lincoln cent always sparked my interest. I used to try and make little sets with all the years going back as far as I could, but I always ended up using them for pocket-change, a real pitty in retrospect.
This is the main set for my lincoln cent collection. The others are just sub-divisions of this set using the same coins. I hope to eventually fill up this set though it will be years in the making.
I hope to have mostly MS65+ coins for 1909-1933, mostly MS66+ coins for 1934-1970, mostly MS67+ for 1971-2000 and MS68+ for 2000 forward.
