Rare NGC-certified English Gold Coins Star in The New York Sale

Two high-denomination gold coins share the spotlight in The New York Sale, which is presented by a combination of auction houses: Ira and Larry Goldberg, Dmitry Markov, M&M Numismatics Limited and Sovereign Rarities Limited. These two spectacular examples are among an impressive array of ancient and vintage coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®). Online bidding for Auctions LIV, LV and LVI is currently underway, with the sale ending January 11-13, 2022, at the NYINC show.
One of the top lots is an England 1692 5 Guineas, which features a royal couple, William III and Mary II, who were co-rulers from 1689 until the death of Mary II in 1694. Graded NGC MS 61+, this impressive example (sale LV, lot 1150) has an estimate of at least $100,000.
Another coin that also has an estimate of at least $100,000 is a Great Britain 1826 5 Sovereign graded NGC PF 61 Cameo (sale LV, lot 1173). It features a detailed portrait of George IV, who ruled from 1820 to 1830.
Other NGC-certified highlights include:
- a Roman Imperatorial, Marc Antony and Cleopatra circa 36 B.C. Tetradrachm graded NGC Ancients XF, 4/5 Strike and 3/5 Surface (sale LIV, lot 181), which has an estimate of at least $50,000
- a Great Britain 2021 “Three Graces” 10-ounce Gold £500 graded NGC PF 70 Ultra Cameo (sale LV, lot 1225), which has an estimate of at least $40,000
- a Great Britain 1748 2 Guineas graded NGC MS 64 and pedigreed to the Carlisle Collection (sale LV, lot 1163), which has an estimate of at least $30,000
- a Hungary 1672BT Transylvania Taler graded NGC AU 55 (sale LV, lot 1436), which has an estimate of at least $25,000
- a Great Britain “Seymour Panther” 10-ounce Gold £500 graded NGC PF 70 Ultra Cameo (sale LV, lot 1233), which has an estimate of at least $23,000
- a Great Britain 1826 2 Sovereign graded NGC PF 64 Ultra Cameo (sale LV, lot 1174), which has an estimate of at least $22,000
- a Russia 1836 Half Rouble graded NGC PF 64 (sale LVI, lot 2096), which has an estimate of at least $20,000
- a Russia 1872 Half Rouble graded NGC PF 62 Cameo (sale LVI, lot 2116), which has an estimate of at least $20,000
- a Russia 1738 Ducat graded NGC MS 61 (sale LVI, lot 2028), which has an estimate of at least $15,000
