NGC-certified Medieval French Coin Is the Pièce de Résistance of a December Auction

A dazzling French gold coin certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) is the centerpiece in an upcoming sale by CGB Numismatique Paris. The Official Submission Center for NGC also known as cgb.fr has opened bidding for its Live Auction, which will end on December 7, 2021.

The top lot in the sale is a France (1328-50) 1 Couronne d’or Philippe VI graded NGC MS 65 (lot 677684), with an estimate of €75,000 (about $84,800). Minted during the reign of King Philip VI, who ruled France from 1328 to 1350, the coin’s design reflects the relationship between royalty and religion, with a crown on the obverse and a cross on the reverse. This particular coin is the higher graded of the two examples in the NGC Census.
