Impressive NGC Registry Morgan Dollar Set Being Offered by GreatCollections

Posted on 9/2/2021

NGC Registry member Goldenboy#1 is offering 173 NGC-certified Morgan Dollars in September.

Goldenboy#1 is selling his spectacular collection of Circulation Issue Morgan Dollars, which includes all key dates and many extra varieties — some with beautiful toning and some with grades as high as NGC MS 67★. The coins are being offered by GreatCollections in individual lots, with bidding for each ending on September 5 or September 12, 2021.

Morgan Dollar collectors are already enthusiastically bidding online, perhaps for elusive coins they need to fill spots in their own NGC Registry sets. Some key dates, such as the 1895-O graded NGC AU 58, already have more than 20 bids. All coins are being sold unreserved beginning at $1, at Goldenboy#1’s request.

Morgan Dollar key dates

A complete basic set of Morgan Dollars by date and mintmark consists of almost 100 coins and represents a major accomplishment for any collector.

The 1893-S Morgan Dollar

The 1893-S is generally considered one of the “must-haves” for a top-notch Morgan collection. Representing the lowest-mintage circulation strike of the series, with only 100,000 pieces produced, Goldenboy#1's 1893-S Morgan graded NGC VF 25 (lot 1035330) is currently over $5,000 more than a week before the sale.

The 1889-CC Morgan Dollar

The 1889-CC is the rarest of the 13 Carson City dollars, with only 350,000 pieces produced, few of which were saved. Goldenboy#1's 1889-CC Morgan graded NGC XF 40 (lot 1035316) had reached $785 several days before its sale.
