NGC-certified 1831 Great Britain Coin Realizes $425,000 at CNG NYINC Auction

The gold rarity sold for more than twice its pre-sale estimate.

A gold 19th Century coin from Great Britain certified by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®) realized $425,000, more than double its pre-sale estimate, at an auction presented January 14-15 by Classical Numismatic Group (CNG).

The stunning Great Britain 1831 Gold Crown graded NGC PF 62+ Ultra Cameo had a pre-sale estimate of $200,000. It shows William IV on the obverse and a coat of arms under a crown and mantle on the reverse.
