NGC Expert Review Opinions

NGC Expert Review helps eBay buyers make smarter purchases by providing a preliminary opinion of authenticity and, if requested, grade. Opinions start at just $5, and customers will receive a voucher equal to the amount paid that can be used to submit the coin to NGC for regular grading services. (Vouchers are valid for 90 days.)

When an NGC Expert Review request is made, an NGC expert will review the eBay listing’s images and provide a preliminary opinion within 52 hours. Opinions will be sent by email. The possible opinions are shown below along with their cost and definition.

Likely Genuine		An NGC expert has reviewed the listing and believes that the coin is likely genuine.
Likely Not Genuine		An NGC expert has reviewed the listing and believes that the coin is likely not genuine or altered.
Inconclusive		An NGC expert has reviewed the listing and is unable to provide an opinion of authenticity. The full fee is refunded.
Not Eligible		An NGC expert has reviewed the listing and has determined that it is not eligible for NGC Expert Review (ie. already graded; not a coin/token/medal; too many items). The full fee is refunded.

Note: No grade opinion will be provided if the authenticity opinion is “Likely Not Genuine,” “Inconclusive,” or “Not Eligible.”

Grade Opinion		Definition
Likely Uncirculated (60-70)		An NGC expert has reviewed the listing and believes that the coin would likely grade between MS 60 and MS 70.
Likely Proof (60-70)		An NGC expert has reviewed the listing and believes that the coin would likely grade between PF 60 and PF 70.
Likely High Circulated (40-58)		An NGC expert has reviewed the listing and believes that the coin would likely grade between XF 40 and AU 58.
Likely Low Circulated (1-35)		An NGC expert has reviewed the listing and believes that the coin would likely grade between PO 1 and VF 35.
Likely Details Grade		An NGC expert has reviewed the listing and believes that the coin would likely receive an NGC Details grade because of a surface problem (e.g. cleaning or scratches).
Likely No Grade		An NGC expert has reviewed the listing and believes that the coin would likely not be graded by NGC because of a problem (e.g. PVC residue).
Inconclusive		An NGC expert has reviewed the listing and is unable to provide an opinion of grade. The grade portion of the fee ($5) will be refunded.
