Long-term storage in original mint packaging can lead to effects that no numismatist likes to see in their collection. This 1993 Rouble Proof commemorative from Russia was stored in its original mint packaging for some time. The nature of the packaging allowed chemicals in the outside environment to deposit onto the surface of the coin, resulting in a very visible haze.
Since this coin was submitted to NCS using the special NCS Modern Tier, NCS conservators were able to safely remove the haze without damaging the underlying surfaces. The coin is left haze-free and ready to certify with NGC at its most optimum level. This coin was able to grade highly with NGC following the conservation. The NCS Modern Tier includes both conservation and grading for coins dated 1970 to date, for the fee of $22.50 per coin.
