From the NGC Archives: 1926 Quarter Eagle American Independence
Posted on 10/12/2010
The quarter eagle had been selected only once before to host a commemorative theme, that being the Panama-Pacific issue of 1915.
This issue had a more modernistic style than previous souvenir coins. Though he failed to make the rays bold enough, Chief Engraver J. R. Sinnock did a fine job otherwise, as may be seen in this delightful gem. Its design has been fully struck, and the satiny luster of this specimen is everything a collector could desire. Remarkably clean surfaces are overlaid with a faint mist of light orange toning.
