2025 Eagle Privy Silver Eagles: Another Instant Classic

In February, I wrote an article about the 2024 (P) Silver Eagle that featured a “Star Privy.” I spoke to the overwhelming demand and success of that release from the US Mint. I concluded the article by raising the question: Will the Mint continue to make privy-marked Silver Eagles? At that time, it was unclear whether we would see another. We now know that the US Mint made another special release Silver Eagle in collaboration with Eighth Era, an action-packed mobile RPG game with tangible rewards such as exclusive collectible silver coins. Let's dive into the details.

2025-P Silver Eagle with "Eagle Privy"
The US Mint started to ship the 2025 Eagle Privy Silver Eagles the week of May 19. These coins could only be purchased directly from the mint by Authorized Purchasers. Authorized Purchasers are a select group of bullion dealers who are allowed to purchase bullion items directly from the US Mint. From there, other dealers can buy from the Authorized Purchasers, which are also known as "AP’s."
Once again, only 500,000 of these coins were minted, and 50,000 of the overall mintage was released in advance to Eighth Era. This mintage figure is extremely low for a bullion strike Silver Eagle. Most bullion Strike Silver Eagles see mintages in the tens of millions per year. Not only is this one of the lowest mintage coins in the bullion strike series, but it currently stands as just one of seven business strike Silver Eagles minted at the Philadelphia Mint.
This unique Silver Eagle bears a privy mark in the shape of an eagle. The placement of the privy mark is just above the "In God We Trust" text on the obverse of the coin. I can say with certainty that the demand for this privy-marked Eagle has surpassed that of the Star Privy version released last year.
Why is demand higher for this coin?
We thought we saw unprecedented demand in 2024 for the Star Privy coin. Nonetheless, from our sales figures, demand for the 2025 Eagle Privy has far surpassed that of the prior release. Two main factors for this uptick seem logical.
The first is simply the design of the privy mark. An Eagle is much more patriotic and applicable to an American Silver Eagle. The second factor is the placement of the privy mark. This privy mark was placed above "In God We Trust," as opposed to being wedged below the motto and near the "AW" (Adolph Weinman’s initials). This placement allowed the privy mark to be much more visible and appealing.
What special Silver Eagle releases should I look out for this year?
The US Mint is releasing a Proof Silver Eagle bearing a privy mark that celebrates the 250th anniversary of the Army on June 13, with a mintage of only 100,000 coins.
A Burnished Silver Eagle with a "Laser Beam" privy mark was also added to the US Mint calendar with no clear release date or mintage. This will be the first-ever Burnished Silver Eagle to bear a privy mark.
In conclusion, the US Mint is delivering more of what collectors want to see. This is being seen with product sellouts, increased demand on the wholesale and retail level, and new collectors entering the market. I can't wait to see the next two Privy Silver Eagles in hand.
