Posted on 8/31/2023
An assortment of rare vintage European coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®), is available in Künker Auction 391 on September 25-26, 2023.
Among the top lots in the auction is a Germany 1783 VF Schwarzenberg 10 Ducat graded NGC MS 65★ (lot 959), which has an estimate of €175,000 (about $189,000). It was struck for John I Nepomuk, the fifth Prince of Schwarzenberg and Duke of Krumlov, who ruled until 1789. The territory he ruled was small; at the time, modern-day Germany and nearby lands were a patchwork of diverse states and territories, each with its own currencies and rulers, reflecting the fragmented nature of the Holy Roman Empire.
