Description and Analysis

Seated Liberty Dimes
1875 CC ABOVE BOW 10C MS

Description & Analysis

This is the more common of the two major varieties for 1875 CC dimes. Gerry Fortin recorded five additional die marriages, and the extra space permitted the mintmark resulted in some dies having the two letters widely spaced. They are close on the coin illustrated.

Though both major varieties of 1875 CC dimes are subject to the typical areas of weakness that plagued Legend Obverse issues (Liberty's head and the wreath bow), the example presented here is quite sharp.

Top 100 variety F-109 features extensive cracking on both dies.
